Job Summary:

The Operator works in the Production department and will learn over time multiple areas of responsibility in the Production process. This may include Shredders Granulators Bagging Tower and in the Millrooms. We have a 5 step program and your pay will increase as you learn new skills.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Operate and understand functionality of shredders granulators mills screening and vibration machines
• Understand the production flow of materials
• Assist with plant change overs
• Monitor and adjust equipment to meet product specifications
• Troubleshoot minor issues with equipment to maintain operation
• Report any operating or mechanical faults or issues to supervisor or company reporting system
• Ensure production processes and machinery are maintained in good safe efficient working condition
• Perform regular equipment maintenance procedures to ensure production capacity and quality
• Conduct quality control checks
• Operate fork lift to move product in preparation for processing and after
• Maintains work area and equipment in a clean orderly condition and follows safety regulations
• Understand and follow all established safety health quality procedures and practices
• Comply with OSHA safety and health rules
• This position does not have any supervisor responsibility but will require training of new hires
• Perfoms all other duties as assigned

Job Specifications:

• Ability to communicate clearly in English both written and verbal
• Ability to follow company operating procedures safety rules and ISO requirements
• Understanding of production procedures and processes
• Ability to read and understand written operating instructions and work order requirements
• Ability to operate all department equipment safely
• Ability to drive a forklift and previous certification
• Excellent time management skills and ability to multi-task and prioritize work
• Problem solving and trouble shooting skills Ability to identify troubleshoot and communicate with management

Experience and Education Requirements:

• High School Diploma/GED
• Previous experience as an Operator or craftsman in manufacturing environment (18 months minimum)
• Forklift Operation (18 months) a plus
• Cable Truck Operation a plus
• Experience troubleshooting manufacturing equipment (18 months minimum)
• Demonstrated ability to work independently
• Demonstrated ability to work in a physically demanding high temperature environment for extended periods

Physical Demands:

• While performing the duties of this job the employee is frequently exposed to airborne particles and vibration
• The employee is exposed to heat in production No A/C environment
• Lifting overhead work standing climbing stairs climbing stairs while carrying and moving throughout most of the day physical stamina required
• The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud and PPE must be worn
• May be required to work in confined space for short periods of time
• This is a full-time position requires 12 1/2 hour work shift rotating days/nights including weekends on-call
• Overtime may be required
• On Call schedule will be required and participation is mandatory
• Must wear uniforms protective clothing and safety shoe
• Every potential new hire MUST successfully complete a Job Placement Assessment
• Must have reliable transportation and ability to commute from home to work on time as required by team schedule and shift assigned

While performing the duties of this job. This position is very active and requires standing walking bending kneeling stooping crouching crawling and climbing all day. The employee must repetitively lift and/or move items over 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision distance vision color vision peripheral vision depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
