Team Overview and Job Responsibilities

Indianapolis Compounds is hiring Machine Operators for full-time second and third shift openings. As a Machine Operator you will work on a team of 67 operators and a team coordinator supported by a control room operator. Your team will produce compounds used in cable manufacturing across Prysmian plants.

Pay:

$22.70 - $27.23/hr.

Key Responsibilities

Complete routine production activities to keep production flowing

Report process changes and system issues

Perform cleanouts following appropriate procedures

Ensure materials systems and tooling are ready for upcoming runs

Perform and support daily cleaning and housekeeping activities which are essential to maintaining safety product quality and efficient operations

Cooperate with team members to maintain housekeeping and organization standards

Perform quality testing and make corrections as needed

Identify and communicate safety hazards

Update systems throughout the production process

What to Expect in This Role

This position involves working in a physically demanding industrial manufacturing environment. Candidates should clearly understand the day-to-day conditions before applying.

In this role you will:

Be on your feet for 12-hour shifts with extended periods of walking and standing on concrete floors

Frequently climb stairs and move throughout a multi-level facility during your shift

Regularly lift and handle materials up to 5055 pounds

Work in a hot non-climate-controlled environment where temperatures can exceed 90F at times

Be exposed to dust dirt noise and industrial machinery

Perform repetitive physical tasks including bending stooping and reaching

Perform regular cleaning and housekeeping tasks which are critical to maintaining safety product quality and efficient operations

Be required to wear PPE and follow strict safety protocols at all times

Key Job Demands

12-hour shifts

Frequent stair climbing throughout a multi-level facility

Heavy lifting (5055 lbs)

Hot non-climate-controlled industrial environment

Continuous physical activity throughout the entire shift

Routine cleaning and housekeeping responsibilities as a critical part of the role

Important: This role is best suited for individuals who are comfortable working in physically demanding fast-paced manufacturing environments and can maintain performance throughout the entire shift.

Shifts

Training is completed on a 12-hour shift schedule

After training employees continue working 12-hour shifts on a 2-2-3 schedule:

o Week 1: Work Mon/Tue off Wed/Thu work Fri/Sat/Sun

o Week 2: Off Mon/Tue work Wed/Thu off Fri/Sat/Sun

Note: Training occurs directly on the production floor and follows the same schedule and physical expectations as the role.

Who Are We Looking For

Qualifications

Basic reading writing arithmetic and computer skills

Ability to communicate and work effectively in a team environment

Ability to regularly lift 5055 pounds and frequently navigate a multi-level facility including stairs

Ability to safely operate and learn equipment including forklifts

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in manufacturing production warehouse or similar industrial environments

Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced physically demanding environment

High School Diploma GED or equivalent

Working Conditions

This role involves exposure to industrial manufacturing conditions including:

High noise levels requiring hearing protection

Heavy machinery and moving equipment

Dust raw materials and industrial chemicals

Potential risks such as cuts burns or contact with hot equipment
