Job Summary

Position : Product Development Engineer

Location : Covington GA

Duration : 2 Months Contract

Total Hours/week :40.00

1st shift

pay range -$25-30/hr

Description:

  • Able to perform routine mechanical testing including metrology testing of dimensions mechanical testing on an Instron and other physical testing.
  • Work well with computers (Excel Word etc.) and testing equipment (e.g. tensile testing) and be able to perform simple calculations in Excel.

General Responsibilities:

  • This position is responsible for working with R&D Scientists/Engineers/Managers to perform laboratory research and development (R&D) duties as well as planning organizing scheduling and tracking work activities. These activities must comply with GLP and/or the BMD quality system.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Performs organizes plans and documents R&D activities leading to new or improved medical products and processes
  • Designs reviews plans conducts and documents laboratory experiments for the verification of new or improved products and processes
  • Develops organizes plans validates and documents test methods that may be used for product development.
  • Prepares protocols test reports test methods and data summaries for Engineers or Material Scientists
  • Produces and maintains laboratory documentation which thoroughly neatly and accurately records all R&D activities.
  • Performs tests and experiments in accordance with the requirements of Good Documentation Practices (GDP) Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) andor Quality System Regulations (QSR).
  • Sets up safely operates and maintains laboratory equipment and test instruments.
  • Capable of managing a laboratory

Basic Qualifications:

  • Must be a self-starter.
  • Demonstrates resourcefulness in problem solving
  • Detail oriented and ability to organize large amounts of work and data.
  • This includes the need for good documentation practices.
  • Have effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Requires working knowledge of average computer/PC skills with experience in Microsoft Word Excel Project and PowerPoint network systems (electronic mail) and Internet applications.
  • Statistical based analysis program knowledge is a plus.
  • Plans effectively and is team oriented.
  • Ability to work with little supervision.
  • Chemical or equivalent area (2-4 Yr Technical Degree)
  • Capable of R&D activities leading to new or improved products/processes with urological/surgical applications.
  • Knowledge of the practical application of chemistry and material science.
  • Ability to draft SOPs o Ability to write technical reports
  • Ability to conduct experiments following internal and external testing standards.
  • Ability to observe any abnormality from experiments and report back to the supervisors.
  • Ability to operate new assigned equipment by reading the equipment manual and communicating with the supplier.

Education and/or Experience:

  • An associates degree in a science related field is required with a minimum of 2-5 years of related experience in a laboratory environment

Physical Demands:

  • While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to sit walk talk and hear.
  • The employee will sometimes be required to move around in manufacturing facility or meet with medical professionals in a hospital environment.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and color vision.
  • Some lifting up to 25 lbs. may be required.

Work Environment:

  • No special work environment conditions other than minimal exposure to manufacturing environment (i.e. noise minimal heat and some chemical fume exposure) laboratory and hospital settings.
