Role Overview
Our client is seeking a results-driven Process Engineerto join their team in Martinez CA. Inthis key technical role you will focus on optimizing operating unitperformance to achieve the facilitys safety environmental and economictargets.
Reporting directly to the Process Engineering Group whileembedded closely with unit operations teams you will provide daily andspecialized engineering support lead process optimization initiatives anddrive continuous improvement across the plant.
Key Responsibilities
Unit Optimization & Safety
- Monitor analyze and optimize process operations to hit production and product quality targets while controlling operating expenses.
- Leverage technical expertise to identify and proactively resolve potential underlying process safety concerns.
- Debottleneck operations remove process constraints and enhance unit throughput and reliability.
Operational Support & Change Management
- Provide hands-on engineering support for routine operations troubleshooting project execution and non-routine events such as unit turnarounds and maintenance outages.
- Support Management of Change (MOC) processes by evaluating proposed operational and equipment modifications.
- Collaborate closely with internal operating departments and external technical resources to solve complex process challenges and unlock operational value.
Working Conditions & Physical Requirements
- Work Environment: Combination of office-based analytical work and active field inspections/testing within refinery production units.
- Physical Demands: Ability to climb ladders walk up and down stairs lift up to 50 pounds and enter operational areas.
- Environmental Exposure: Ability to work safely at elevated heights and outdoors in varied inclement weather conditions.
- Schedule & On-Call: Standard full-time schedule with required off-hours and weekend availability for emergency response and site support. Extended or altered work hours may be required during major maintenance turnarounds and outages.
Candidate Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Chemical Engineering.
- 3 years of process engineering experience within an oil refinery or petrochemical setting with distillation and cracking.
- Strong technical acumen in process troubleshooting yield optimization and continuous improvement methodologies.
- Valid Drivers License and active TWIC card (or ability to obtain).
