Principal Software Engineer

Avandra is poised to revolutionize healthcare research and innovation by creating the largest indexed data cloud of medical imaging. This platform will unlock unprecedented access to real-world imaging data essential for biopharma research medical device innovation AI model training and improved patient care.

Leveraging its strategic acquisitions Avandra aims to aggregate and de-identify vast amounts of imaging data providing frictionless access to this invaluable resource. With a national footprint of over 5000 customer integrations and a market share of approximately 70% this robust infrastructure supports their core business ensuring continued growth and cash flow to fuel their innovative data cloud platform.

As aPrincipal Software Engineer at Avandra Imaging youll serve as a hands-on technical leader collaborating across Engineering Product and other areas of the business to shape and deliver systems that are secure scalable and high-impact. Youll be trusted to drive architectural direction mentor other engineers and set quality standards across the stack.

• Architect and leadthe development of critical systems services and infrastructure with a focus on reliability security performance and maintainability.
• Partner with product and program leadersto ensure engineering solutions align with user needs regulatory requirements and business outcomes.
• Set and evolve technical standardsacross the organization. Proactively address tech debt guide code review quality and drive initiatives that improve team velocity and code quality.
• Coach and mentor engineersacross teams helping them grow their craft navigate ambiguity anddevelop intheir careers.
• Investigate and evaluatenew technologiesto drive innovation simplify complexity and support scale.
• Contribute directly to codebasesespecially forarchitectural foundations prototypes and complex or high-risk areas.
• Serve as a multiplieridentifyinggapsfacilitatingcollaboration and unblocking teams without taking over.
• Uphold and strengthen our engineering culture with a commitment to curiosity learning integrity and positive team dynamics.
• Help recruit and onboard exceptional talent contributing to a team that reflects our values and mission.

• 12 years of experienceas an engineer across multiple tech stacks with deep experience building and scaling distributed systems.
• Proven ability tooperateas atechnical leader setting direction influencing others and delivering results without formal authority.
• Strong foundationinsoftware engineering best practices including CI/CD observability automated testing andinfrastructure ascode.
• Experience withcloud-native systems(preferably AWS) including containerization (Docker Kubernetes)
• Solid knowledge ofrelational and non-relational databases
• Demonstrated success in ahighly regulated environment preferably healthcare with an understanding of compliance and data protection (e.g. HIPAA).
• Effective communicator and cross-functional collaborator comfortable representing engineering in executive conversations and product strategy.
• Passion for teaching mentoring andcultivating a high-trust high-autonomy teamenvironment.
