A day in the life:

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Principal Geospatial Software Engineer to join our team in developing cutting-edge geospatial analysis ETL (Extract Transform Load) and visualization microservices to support mission-focused systems. As a Principal Software Engineer you will play a crucial role in designing implementing and maintaining scalable and performant Java-based microservices that interact with both relational and NoSQL databases. Your work will contribute to enhancing the capabilities of our geospatial data processing and visualization tools enabling better decision-making for mission- critical applications.

Your responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

  • Designing developing and maintaining high-performance Java microservices with a strong
    emphasis on geospatial functionality.
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to understand requirements and translate them
    into robust and scalable software solutions.
  • Leading the technical design and implementation of geospatial features ensuring alignment
    with overall architecture and mission objectives.
  • Working closely with product managers and other stakeholders to gather requirements and
    provide technical expertise during the planning and execution of projects.
  • Conduct code reviews and mentor junior team members to ensure high-quality code and
    adherence to best practices.

What you bring to the table:

  • 20 years of experience as a Software Engineer in programs and contracts of similar scope type and complexity
  • Bachelors or higher degree in Computer Science Software Engineering or a related field. Four (4) additional years of relevant experience may be substituted for a bachelors degree.
  • In-depth knowledge of Java and associated frameworks (Spring Boot Hibernate etc.).
  • Experience with cloud-based development and deployment
  • Solid understanding of database design and optimization for geospatial data.
  • Familiarity with DevOps practices and tools for continuous integration and deployment.
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
  • Leadership experience in guiding and mentoring development teams.
  • A TS/SCI with Polygraph level of clearance is required

Bonus Skills:

  • Familiarity with containerization and orchestration technologies (Docker Kubernetes).
  • Knowledge of GIS (Geographic Information System) principles and applications.

Salary Range:
  • Disclosed pay ranges are a general guideline and are not a guarantee of a final salary or compensation. Our approach in determining final salaries takes into consideration a number of factors such as education certifications total years of relevant professional experienceactual level of expertise and the responsibilities of the role itself.
  • Based on the outlined roles responsibilities and requirements the projected pay range for this position is $190000 - $235000.
