Introduction to the role
Strong construction projects start with accurate information careful planning and numbers that can be trusted. A commercial construction company in Orlando FL is looking for a Preconstruction Estimator to support the estimating team in developing accurate and competitive project costs.
In this role you will turn plans and specifications into detailed takeoffs review subcontractor pricing identify scope gaps and support the development of detailed and conceptual estimates. You will work closely with Preconstruction Managers internal teams design professionals and subcontractors while building your estimating expertise across a variety of commercial construction projects.

  • You are a construction estimator with 37 years of experience in commercial or industrial construction.
  • You are detail-oriented and take pride in producing accurate takeoffs cost breakdowns and bid documentation.

Your Responsibilities

Quantity Takeoffs & Cost Analysis




  • You will perform accurate quantity takeoffs from architectural and mechanical plans specifications and addenda across construction trades.
  • You will prepare detailed cost breakdowns and scope comparison sheets to support bid analysis and proposal development.
  • You will review plans and project documents to verify quantities and identify missing conflicting or unclear information.
  • You will coordinate with internal team members to resolve takeoff questions and improve estimate accuracy.

Subcontractor Bid Management




  • You will support subcontractor solicitation by preparing bid packages and communicating project scope clearly to potential bidders.
  • You will review subcontractor proposals for completeness accuracy and compliance with project requirements.
  • You will prepare bid tabs and comparison sheets showing pricing scope differences exclusions and other relevant information.
  • You will support the Preconstruction Manager in evaluating subcontractor pricing and developing bid recommendations.

Proposal Development & Documentation




  • You will support the preparation of GMP proposals and detailed cost narratives that clearly communicate project scope assumptions and exclusions.
  • You will identify design conflicts code compliance concerns and missing information that could affect project cost or schedule.
  • You will maintain organized records of estimates takeoffs bid tabs proposals and supporting documentation.
  • You will contribute to cost benchmarking and future estimating efforts by maintaining reliable project information.

To be considered for this role you should have




  • 37 years of estimating experience in commercial or industrial construction.
  • Experience performing quantity takeoffs and preparing construction cost estimates.
  • Proficiency with construction takeoff and estimating software.
  • Ability to read and interpret architectural and mechanical plans specifications and addenda.
  • Working knowledge of mechanical trades building codes and construction sequencing.
  • Experience reviewing subcontractor proposals and preparing bid comparisons.
  • Strong analytical organizational communication and problem-solving skills.
  • A Bachelors degree in Construction Management Engineering or a related field is preferred or equivalent field experience and technical training.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen or Green Card holder.
  • Must be a local candidate in Miami FL.
