Fords Propulsion Software and Diagnostics team is looking for a Controls Supervisor to lead our Gasoline Air Torque Starting and Accessories Software Controls team. Youll manage a high-performing group of engineers who deliver embedded controls software for engine start/stop torque management low-voltage/battery systems and regulatory compliance (EU7 FMVSS) across platforms spanning our full vehicle portfolio. This role combines technical leadership cross-functional collaboration and hands-on ownership of software quality delivery pace and modernization with the opportunity to directly shape how Ford meets emissions regulations and safety standards while driving engineering excellence at scale.

As a PTEC Controls Supervisor on the Propulsion Software and Diagnostics team youll lead a team of engineers responsible for the software controls that keep Fords engines running safely cleanly and reliably from the moment a vehicle starts to how it manages torque air intake low-voltage power and regulatory compliance across our global gas and diesel lineup. This is a role for a technical leader who thrives on high delivery volume deep cross-functional partnership and driving modernization without ever losing sight of quality.



Responsibilities

What youll do...

  • Lead the Gasoline Air Torque Starting and Accessories Software Controls team within the Propulsion Software and Diagnostics Department
  • Own and communicate the status of all team work products in design reviews and management escalation meetings taking full accountability for all embedded controls developed by the team
  • Drive delivery across a broad and demanding scope including AECD regulatory reviews EU7/FMVSS compliance deliverables engine start/stop and power management features (e.g. ENGST/STPEX/PSTAT) and low-voltage/battery system controls (LVSM/BIC)
  • Collaborate with global gas and diesel software development and calibration teams to plan and implement software on time and to high high-qualityquality standards
  • Manage highly technical staff fostering a culture of ownership urgency and proactive risk mitigation (e.g. identifying and resolving gating issues before they impact program milestones)
  • Plan controls and monitors for gasoline and diesel engines developing future technologies to meet emissions regulations and support new hardware technologies across platforms (e.g. P702 P708 P736 P768 CX735 S650 S750 V363)
  • Use connected data and warranty/field reports to identify and resolve top quality issues related to engine control software including rapid response to field-reported issues
  • Use Jira to triage and prioritize a backlog of work across multiple scrum teams; demonstrate strong command of SAFe AGILE methodology and delivery metrics (Say/Do ratio code coverage static analysis defect targets)
  • Champion modernization and code-quality initiatives architecture cleanup tooling investment (e.g. AI-assisted development tools) and process migration efforts that benefit the broader engineering organization
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships across peer product integration and service teams exhibiting excellent networking and relationship-building skills
  • Enforce process discipline and drive continuous improvement in a constructive non-confrontational manner


Qualifications

Youll have

  • Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering Computer Science Electrical Engineering or a closely related field of study
  • 5 years of software development experience powertrain software preferred
  • 2 years of experience supporting critical applications in an always on environment
  • 6 months of experience leading and mentoring a team of engineers
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Excellent networking and relationship-building skills
  • Proven ability to manage high-volume high-complexity technical delivery across regulatory quality and platform priorities simultaneously

  • Masters degree in Mechanical Engineering Computer Science Electrical Engineering or a closely related field of study
  • Demonstrated leadership and collaborative skills working across diverse interdependent teams
  • Strong problem-solving skills (G8D DMAIC)
  • Working knowledge of Ford Quality processes and tools
  • Working knowledge of GPDS Product Development Milestones and Deliverables
  • Experience with data collection simulation test automation and communication systems
  • Experience with Ford powertrain tools Blueprint UPS CFX Unix Clearcase Jira Matlab Simulink VS Code GitHub
  • Experience navigating regulatory compliance work (EU7 FMVSS) and cross-platform architecture initiatives

This position is leadership level 6 and ranges from $132800-$250800.
Final determination of salary grade will be based on candidates skills and experience and base salary will be set within the applicable range according to job scope responsibility and competitive market value.
