SUMMARY

The Plumber maintains installs and repairs plumbing fixtures lines appliances and equipment to provide a safe and functional environment for students and staff.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Maintains installs and repairs plumbing fixtures and equipment to include valves control devices water mains sprinklers pumps toilets faucets and sewer water gas and airlines.
• Clears stoppages in main lines toilets floor drains urinals and sinks; repairs breaks and leaks; disposes of all waste properly.
• Repairs digital motion and manual faucets hand wash stations and mop sinks and replaces as necessary.
• Repairs a variety of equipment and water-using appliances recirculating pumps and sewage injector pumps.
• Installs new water-using appliances (e.g. dishwashers water heaters and drinking fountains); repairs and replaces garbage disposals.
• Replaces water lines and rusted and corroded galvanized pipe lines.
• Repairs steamed cast iron and gas lines.
• Maintains supply inventory requisitions supplies as necessary. Maintains paperwork (electronic or hard copy) and processing of work orders.
• Estimates cost of materials and labor in relation to job.
• Maintains assigned equipment tools facilities and assigned vehicles.
• Makes emergency service calls. Assists other departments with tasks and projects as needed.
• Supports the relationship between the Phoenix Union High School District and the public by demonstrating courteous and professional behavior when interacting with students parents visitors and school staff; maintains absolute confidentiality of work-related issues client records and school information; follows Governing Board Policies; performs all other related duties as required or assigned.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• High School diploma or GED equivalent; AND two year technical certificate in plumbing or related field is required; AND four years of plumbing experience; OR an equivalent combination of education training and experience.
• A valid Arizona State Drivers License is required.
• Must be a licensed Journeyman Plumber at the time of hire or 10 years of Plumber experience.

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED

• Skill in and installing maintaining and repairing plumbing and fixtures.
• Knowledge of plumbing systems materials and equipment analyzing water system errors and trouble shooting.
• Skill in planning prioritizing and completing assignments with minimum supervision.
• Ability to comply with safety policies procedures and practices.
• Ability to follow verbal and written instructions and procedures.
• Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
• Ability to provide excellent customer experiences including but not limited to interacting tactfully and courteously with the public.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING ENVIRONMENT

• Work is performed throughout campuses and District facilities both indoors and outdoors.
• Work requires exposure to hot and cold temperatures potentially dangerous tools and equipment and hazardous chemicals.
• Physical ability to perform all of the essential functions (e.g. stand turn stoop crouch crawl reach lift push pull and climb ladders).
• May be required to lift objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
