The PLC Control Technician is responsible for installing programming troubleshooting repairing and maintaining automated industrial control systems and manufacturing equipment to ensure safe reliable and efficient plant operations. This role supports production by diagnosing control system issues implementing corrective actions and optimizing automation processes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Install configure and commission PLC-based control systems HMI interfaces and associated industrial automation equipment.
  • Develop modify and troubleshoot PLC programs using ladder logic and other industry-standard programming methods.
  • Design update and maintain Human-Machine Interface (HMI) screens to improve operator functionality and process monitoring.
  • Troubleshoot and repair electrical and control system components minimizing equipment downtime and production interruptions.
  • Maintain calibrate and test sensors transmitters actuators motor controls drives and Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs).
  • Diagnose and resolve issues involving analog and digital I/O systems communication networks and industrial automation hardware.
  • Support installation maintenance and troubleshooting of industrial networking infrastructure including Ethernet/IP Profibus Modbus and related communication protocols.
  • Perform preventive and predictive maintenance on automated equipment and control systems.
  • Interpret electrical schematics wiring diagrams loop drawings and technical documentation.
  • Collaborate with engineering operations and maintenance teams to improve system performance reliability and production efficiency.
  • Assist with automation upgrades system expansions and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with plant safety standards lockout/tagout procedures and applicable electrical codes and regulations.
  • Document troubleshooting activities program changes maintenance records and system configurations.

Qualifications:

  • Associate degree technical certification or equivalent hands-on experience in Industrial Controls Electronics Electrical Technology Automation or a related field.
  • Experience with major PLC platforms such as Allen-Bradley/Rockwell Automation Siemens or equivalent systems.
  • Strong understanding of analog and digital I/O instrumentation motor controls and industrial automation principles.
  • Knowledge of VFDs sensors relays actuators and industrial communication networks.
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex electrical and control system issues in a fast-paced industrial environment.
  • Strong problem-solving analytical and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and effectively with engineering maintenance and operations personnel to support production goals.
  • Valid Drivers License.
