Job Summary

Matrix Providers is seeking a skilled Pulmonologist to join our healthcare team. The Pulmonologist provides specialized respiratory care services to members of the World Trade Center (WTC) Health Program enrolled at the William Street Clinic Clinical Center of Excellence in New York NY. The Pulmonologist delivers evidence-based care and collaborates with a multidisciplinary team including primary care providers and respiratory therapists to support comprehensive disease management diagnostic testing and treatment planning in alignment with WTC Program requirements and regulatory standards

This is a patient-facing clinical role in an outpatient specialty setting with high expectations for clinical excellence diagnostic accuracy and adherence to regulatory and program requirements. The role requires exposure to respiratory illness and adherence to infection prevention protocols.

  • Employment Status: Part Time 1099 provider
  • Schedule: 1-2 Days per week
  • Compensation: This is an hourly position paid bi-weekly: $225/hour

Required Qualifications

  • Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO)
  • Completion of an accredited residency in Internal Medicine
  • Completion of an accredited Pulmonary fellowship program
  • Board certification in Pulmonology (ABIM or equivalent)
  • Active and unrestricted New York State medical license
  • Active DEA license or ability to obtain prior to employment
  • Current BLS and ACLS certification (AHA accredited)
  • Strong clinical and diagnostic skills in pulmonary medicine
  • Experience interpreting pulmonary function testing and diagnostic studies
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team

Preferred Qualifications

  • 2 years of post-fellowship clinical experience
  • Experience in outpatient pulmonary or occupational health settings
  • Familiarity with WTC Health Program or similar federal health programs
  • Experience working with respiratory therapists and pulmonary diagnostics
  • Managed care or utilization review experience

Clinical Responsibilities

  • Evaluate diagnose and treat acute and chronic respiratory conditions including asthma COPD and other WTC-certified conditions
  • Perform comprehensive pulmonary assessments and interpret clinical findings
  • Order perform and interpret diagnostic testing including pulmonary function testing (PFT) spirometry and imaging studies
  • Develop and implement individualized evidence-based treatment plans
  • Prescribe medications and therapeutic respiratory interventions as clinically appropriate
  • Provide patient education regarding respiratory conditions treatment plans and disease prevention

Diagnostic Oversight & Procedures

  • Provide clinical oversight of pulmonary diagnostic testing including spirometry and pulmonary function testing
  • Ensure accuracy quality and clinical appropriateness of test results performed by respiratory therapists
  • Assist with diagnostic procedures as needed within scope of practice

Care Coordination

  • Collaborate with primary care providers and multidisciplinary team members to coordinate patient care
  • Facilitate referrals to specialists and ancillary services as appropriate
  • Participate in integrated care planning for complex respiratory conditions

Program & Regulatory Responsibilities

  • Provide care in alignment with WTC Health Program certification and treatment guidelines
  • Support clinical documentation and review processes associated with treatment authorization and program compliance
  • Maintain familiarity with WTC regulations policies and clinical protocols

Documentation & Compliance

  • Complete timely accurate documentation in the electronic medical record (EMR)
  • Adhere to all Optum Serve federal state and local regulatory requirements
  • Maintain compliance with HIPAA and patient confidentiality standards

Operational & Team Expectations

  • Demonstrate professional collaboration with respiratory therapists providers and clinic staff
  • Maintain productivity quality and patient care standards
  • Participate in clinic operations and quality improvement initiatives
  • Organize workload and prioritize tasks effectively
