Physician Assistant, General Surgery

JOB SUMMARY:

Provides health care in collaboration with physician(s); assists supervising physician in surgery clinic hospital and on-call as needed. Manages selected cases according to established protocols; maintains case histories medical reports and other records; prepares treatment plans; orders x-rays and other diagnostic procedures; writes prescriptions according to protocols; refers acute and chronic care patients; patient education counseling; conducts health assessments utilizing diagnostic tools and laboratory tests.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Currently licensed by the Oklahoma State Board of Licensure and Supervision.
• Demonstrates graduation from an approved school for Physician Assistants.
• Experience in a clinic or ambulatory setting preferred.
• National certification as Physician Assistant.
• Licensed under the supervision of an Active Staff physician.
• Physically and mentally able to conduct job duties as listed.
• Maintains malpractice coverage as defined by the Board of Trustees.
• Current CPR card or completion of course within 30 days of hire.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Must have adequate perception of sounds or adequate hearing with corrections.
• Adequate vision or correctable with glasses/contacts to prepare reports evaluate patients and read written materials.
• Able to discriminate minute details.
• Able to communicate (written and oral) in English.
• Able to frequently lift at least 60 lbs. reach pull push bend stoop and kneel.
• Able to hear see and feel to accurately assess monitor and administer care.
• Possesses fine motor skills and hand/eye coordination to give care (i.e.: Administer medications and handle instruments).
• Able to work in a latex-burdened environment.
