Physical Architect Junior Level

Location: Sterling Heights MI
Employment Type: Contract
Pay Range: $49-$54/hour

Our client is seeking a Junior-Level Physical Architect to support vehicle design and development activities involving space allocation interface definition CAD master models and vehicle product structure. You will help evaluate design concepts identify potential interference and clearance issues and work with cross-functional engineering teams to develop effective solutions for military vehicle systems.

• Support the development and maintenance of CAD Master Models and Interface Assemblies.
• Develop and maintain space claims for static and dynamic conditions sway shot lines and keep-out zones.
• Support development of the vehicle Product Structure and preliminary EBOM.
• Participate in concurrent engineering reviews technical reviews drawing sign-offs and internal/external checkpoint reviews.
• Support trial fits and vehicle builds.
• Perform system and component interference and clearance analysis documenting results impacts and recommended solutions.
• Identify critical interfaces and coordinate interface definitions with impacted organizations and vendors.
• Support development of Interface Control Drawings Class & Division Drawings Installation Drawings General Assembly Drawings Appurtenance Drawings and Turret & Hull Weldment Drawings.
• Interface with Program Office Design Engineering Systems Engineering Logistics Vetronics Manufacturing Design Services vendors and U.S. Government representatives.
• Analyze potential impacts of design decisions and help determine appropriate resolutions.
• Support continuous improvement processes and methodologies.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent work experience.
• 3-5 years of experience in a related engineering or physical architecture role is desired.
• Required experience with Teamcenter and Vis-Mockup.
• Required knowledge of CAD tools such as NX CREO and/or SpaceClaim.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
• Strong communication interpersonal organizational and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
• Ability to work occasional evening and/or weekend overtime as required.
• Ability and willingness to travel more than 25% as required.

• Previous experience working in the defense industry.
• Experience supporting military ground vehicle design or development.
• Experience with vehicle physical architecture space claims interface definition or product structure/EBOM development.

• This position may require eligibility to obtain a U.S. security clearance. Non-U.S. citizens may not be eligible to obtain a security clearance.

• Must be able to climb on and off work in and work around military vehicles.
• Must be able to pass an ASR (Anthropometric Size Requirement) test for confined-space access.
