Pharmacy Technician Inpatient Pharmacy

Per the Collective Bargaining Agreement current bargaining unit employees have priority consideration for this position if they apply within seven (7) days of the posting date. After this period all applicants will be considered equally.

This is a Day/Night Shift Position

Primary Shift: 0700-1530

Secondary Shifts:

GENERAL SUMMARY:
Each Pharmacy Technician is responsible for assisting the staff pharmacists in the various functions of the Department including dispensing and order filling responsibilities inventory controls and prepackaging.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Skills Required:
1. High School Diploma (minimum) required.
2. Hospital Pharmacy experience preferred.
3. Must pass basic calculations competency.
4. Computer experience preferred.
5. Must pass basic Word competency.
6. Must secure a Valid National Pharmacy Technician Certification from a nationally accredited pharmacy technician certification program.

Full & Part Time Staff
a. Must attempt examination within 12 months of effective hire date
b. Must secure certification within 18 months of effective hire date

Per Diem Staff
a. Must attempt examination within 18 months of effective hire date
b. Must secure certification within 24 months of effective hire date

Must register with the NY Department of Education as a Registered Pharmacy Technician

Full & Part Time Staff
a. Must register within 18 months of effective hire date

Per Diem Staff
a. Must register within 24 months of effective hire date

As applicable the individual has training/competency in attending to the special needs and/or behaviors appropriate to the age of the patients for which care is being provided.
