The Facility San Francisco VA Medical Center
The San Francisco VA Health Care System provides health services to Veterans through the San Francisco VA Medical Center (SFVAMC) and six community-based outpatient clinics in Santa Rosa Eureka Ukiah Clearlake San Bruno and downtown San Francisco. They have a long history of conducting cutting-edge research establishing innovative medical programs and providing compassionate care to Veterans. The Medical Center is a 1a complexity level facility with 112 operating beds and a 120-bed Community Living Center. Primary mental health and specialty care is provided at its outpatient clinics. The Medical Center has been affiliated with the University of California San Francisco (UCSF) School of Medicine for nearly 60 years. All physicians are jointly recruited by SFVAMC and UCSF School of Medicine.

Perfusionist - RESPONSIBILITIES (listed are included but not limited to)
- Provide perfusion services in line with ABCP TJC and AHA standards.
- Maintain quality of care meeting or exceeding recognized national standards.
- Assist the Cardio-Thoracic surgical team with bypass surgeries valve replacements and other cardiac procedures.
- Operate and monitor heart-lung machines ensuring proper extracorporeal circulation and patient stability.
- Prepare and manage VA-owned cardiovascular support equipment including intra-aortic balloon pumps and ventricular assist devices.
- Ensure sterile technique and a safe operating environment.
Perfusionist - REQUIREMENTS
- Must be board-certified through the American Board of Cardiovascular Perfusion.
- Graduated from an accredited Allied Health Education Program School of Perfusion Technology.
- Must possess a current full and unrestricted license to practice in any U.S. State Territory or Commonwealth or the District of Columbia.
- Must have certification in Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
- Minimum of 10 years with at least 1000 clinical cases including demonstrated experience in the following areas: Open heart surgery autotransfusion heart lung machine membrane oxygenation left/right heart bypass intra-aortic balloon pumping and centrifugal ventricular assist device.
