With a staff of 950 and an annual budget of $140 million Project Renewal is one of the larger social service nonprofits in New York : Peer Specialist Program: Renewal House Bronx NYSalary Range: $20.08/hourProgram Description:Renewal House provides permanent housing to 25 individuals who have a history of substance use disorders. Renewal House is funded by OASAS and works to provide clients with skills that will support them with integration into the community. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:The essential duties of the Peer Specialist include but are not limited to the following activities:Program Activities and Client EngagementOrganize lead and promote recreational activities including arts and crafts sports games on-site tournaments and other population-focused leisure regularly with clients to understand their interests and develop activities that support participation and the daily recreational schedule and ensure activities are coordinated new clients introduce them to the recreational program and encourage clients to recreational activities relevant events and identified appointments as clients to attend house meetings support groups and recreational activities while supporting their efforts toward and Administrative ResponsibilitiesComplete and maintain time and attendance client participation in recreational activities in client case and Team ParticipationCollaborate with agency personnel community organizations the NYC Parks Department and other professionals to plan balanced recreational programs for with the social services team and attend meetings as with the social services team regarding client concerns progress and support other duties as assigned by the Program ActivitiesWhile performing the duties of this position the Recreation Specialist must be able to navigate the facility on foot climbing up and down the stairwells in order to observe staff and clients. The Recreation Specialist must be able to lift or move material and equipment weighing up to 15 :A High School Diploma or GED equivalent with one (1) year of experienceBilingual or multilingual a plusPreferred SkillsTeam Building: Ability to promote collaboration model positive team participation and support clients in overcoming : Strong oral written and active listening skills with the ability to communicate clearly and professionally with clients and and Time Management: Ability to manage competing priorities meet deadlines and support both short-term tasks and long-term program goals in a fast-paced Skills: Ability to build respectful supportive relationships with clients while working effectively with staff at all Skills: Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with case management software (AWARDS).Project Renewal is an equal opportunity employer.
