Payroll Staff Accountant (Tax)

About the role

The Payroll Staff Accountant will be responsible for all aspects of the payroll function. This includes:

  • Timely and accurate processing of the payroll
  • Reviewing inquiries to ensure set up of Federal State and Local taxes
  • Assisting associates with payroll and tax questions and concerns
  • Responsible for auditing identifying and resolving payroll and tax variances
  • Responsible for compliance research related to payroll and tax questions and concerns
  • Completion of data reconciliation between subsystem (Workday/OSV) and Oracle/SAP General Ledger

  • Troubleshoot errors as they arise during payroll process
  • Execution of ongoing Payroll processes
  • Facilitation of cross brand communication as it relates to Payroll functions and deliverables
  • Creation and maintenance of audit reports for data within Workday
  • Assist with project development and implementation on an ongoing basis
  • Assist with improvements related to process enhancements innovation and technological updates

What Youll bring to the role

  • Requires Bachelors Degree and 1 year experience in multi-state payroll tax. General ledger experience is preferred.
  • Systems experience and strong aptitude with Excel Access Oracle and SAP. Workday experience is preferred.
  • Demonstrated collaboration skills Ability to collaborate across departments with various Payroll stakeholders HR and IT resources.
  • Outstanding leadership and teamwork skills; ability to work well with others
  • Excellent Communication skills (verbal and written); ability to articulate potentially complex system and process components into user friendly terms.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast paced and ever-changing environment
  • Attention to detail ability to take initiative and excellent prioritization abilities required

This position works in a hybrid model with required days worked in the Talbots office location in Hingham MA as defined by business needs. NOTE: we can also consider candidates who can work hybrid from our Duluth MN or Ft Myers FL brand offices also.
