Job Summary

JOB SUMMARY:

This is a hybrid role for a goal-oriented detail-driven and patient-focused team member who splits time between medical billing and front-office patient support. Primary duties include: consistently following up on unpaid claims filing appeals to obtain maximum reimbursement reviewing and submitting claims and managing denials and resubmissions. Equally important this person will support day-to-day clinic flow by greeting and checking in patients verifying insurance and turning over exam rooms between patients to keep the clinic clean stocked and organized when needed. No clinical certification is required for this role; this is a non-clinical administrative and billing position.

REPORTS TO:Clinical Director


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Billing & Documentation

  • Review submit and follow up on claims including appeals for unpaid or denied claims
  • Reconcile charges against provider documentation and enter completed charts into the hospital system daily
  • Ensure documentation supports ICD-10/CPT coding and meets LCD/NCD and NCCI guidelines
  • Answer patient billing questions and assist with third-party payer authorizations (Medicare Medicaid commercial PPO/HMO)
  • Collaborate with HIM/Coding to resolve variances

Front Office & Patient Support

  • Greet and check patients in/out manage scheduling and verify insurance
  • Set up and turn over exam rooms between patients
  • Support patient registration data entry and front-desk coverage as needed

QUALIFICATIONS

  1. High school graduate

  2. Minimum of one year of medical billing and collections experience preferably in outpatient health services

  3. Prior front-desk medical office or other customer-facing healthcare experience preferred

  4. Computer experience including familiarity with billing software and scheduling/EHR systems

  5. Excellent customer service skills

  6. Familiar with medical terminology and medical insurance codes

  7. Great with time management multitasking and documentation

  8. No clinical certification (CMA EMT CNA etc.) required; on-the-job training provided for front-office and room-turnover procedures
