The De Anza College Planetarium is seeking enthusiastic presenters to join our team in delivering engaging field trips and public astronomy shows. Paid training is provided. If you enjoy sharing your passion for the stars and inspiring curiosity wed love to hear from you.

Requirements / Qualifications

This part-time role offers varied hours including Saturday afternoons and evenings during our public show season (OctoberMay). We welcome applicants who bring:A background or interest in astronomy and space scienceA willingness to learnA warm positive and professional presence with audiences of all agesDuties: star shows and night sky tours to school groups ranging in age from Pre-K to high school and adults of all Planetarium team with digital show productions including laser light duties as assigned in the Planetarium Qualifications:Warm friendly and engaging public speaker. Some understanding of Astronomy and Space Science including knowledge of the night sky. Basic understanding of audio and video equipment and how to use a Qualifications: coursework in of some deep sky objects and some of astronomy and science of historic and recent developments in space travel and speaking film/video production experienceWorking Conditions - Environment: variations include total darkness dim lighting very bright lighting strobe lights and diurnal motion during star shows and night sky music or explosive video special effects (on occasion).Physical Abilities: and speaking to exchange of hands and fingers to operate assigned flexing lifting moderately heavy equipment.

The planetarium at De Anza College is one of the largest school planetariums west of the Rockies. This unique community resource offers field trips for schools and public programs. Each school field trip program is tailored to NGSS standards and hosted live by the planetarium staff. Public programming includes astronomy and laser light shows offered most Saturday evenings from October through May.
