THE ROLE

LEAD Charter School seeks an exceptional Part-Time Meal Service Aide to join our mission-driven community. Our goal is to transform equity through opportunities for young people in Newark. The Meal Service Aide will play a pivotal part in ensuring the successful management and execution of the schools federal food service program.

  • High School Diploma Required Associates Degree Preferred
  • Current Servsafe certification
  • Demonstrated knowledge of principles of nutrition food preparation health and safety regulations and federal and state guidelines governing school food services programs
  • Ability to work with a diverse multicultural staff and students.
  • Commitment to school model and implementation with fidelity
  • Demonstrated ability to multitask effectively and prioritize strategically
  • Prior experience working in schools and/or urban communities
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills including use of necessary software/technology.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES

Management of Food Service Program:

  • Knowledge of principles of nutrition food preparation health and safety regulations and federal and state guidelines governing school food services programs.
  • Assumes responsibility for the operation of the schools food services program in accordance with board policies and local state/federal requirements.
  • Determines eligibility status for free reduced and paid applicants.
  • Set up and serve meals to students.
  • Maintain a clean work environment and serving area.
  • Attends all workshops & required training pertaining to the Child Nutrition Program.
  • Carry out additional duties and tasks as assigned.

Compliance and Reporting:

  • Stay informed about federal regulations related to school meal programs (e.g. National School Food Program) and ensure full compliance.
  • Support the state reporting and auditing process for student enrollment
  • Prepare and submit required reports documentation and claims accurately and on time.

Data Entry and Record Keeping:

  • Accurately input data into various systems databases and spreadsheets.
  • Collects tracks and organizes food service data to ensure daily weekly and monthly reports to key stakeholders
  • Maintain confidentiality and ensure data security at all times.

Customer Service:

  • Providing a welcoming and supportive environment for students parents and visitors.
  • Addressing inquiries concerns and requests promptly and professionally.
  • Assist with miscellaneous tasks and projects as assigned by the operations manager or administrative leadership.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
  • Part-Time 12-month employee.
  • Salary to be recommended by HR and approved by the board.
EVALUATION
  • Performance will be evaluated annually in accordance with the boards policy on evaluation.
