Job Summary
THE ROLE
LEAD Charter School seeks an exceptional Part-Time Meal Service Aide to join our mission-driven community. Our goal is to transform equity through opportunities for young people in Newark. The Meal Service Aide will play a pivotal part in ensuring the successful management and execution of the schools federal food service program.
The mission of LEAD is to enable students ages 16-21 in grades 9-12 to master essential skills for success in careers postsecondary education and community leadership within a global society. We implement the Newark Opportunity Youth Network (NOYN) school model supporting the unique academic and non-academic needs of students who have disengaged from traditional schooling. - High School Diploma Required Associates Degree Preferred
- Current Servsafe certification
- Demonstrated knowledge of principles of nutrition food preparation health and safety regulations and federal and state guidelines governing school food services programs
- Ability to work with a diverse multicultural staff and students.

- Prior experience working in schools and/or urban communities
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills including use of necessary software/technology.

Management of Food Service Program:
- Knowledge of principles of nutrition food preparation health and safety regulations and federal and state guidelines governing school food services programs.
- Assumes responsibility for the operation of the schools food services program in accordance with board policies and local state/federal requirements.
- Determines eligibility status for free reduced and paid applicants.
- Set up and serve meals to students.
- Maintain a clean work environment and serving area.
- Attends all workshops & required training pertaining to the Child Nutrition Program.
- Carry out additional duties and tasks as assigned.
Compliance and Reporting:
- Stay informed about federal regulations related to school meal programs (e.g. National School Food Program) and ensure full compliance.
- Support the state reporting and auditing process for student enrollment
- Prepare and submit required reports documentation and claims accurately and on time.
Data Entry and Record Keeping:
- Accurately input data into various systems databases and spreadsheets.
- Collects tracks and organizes food service data to ensure daily weekly and monthly reports to key stakeholders
- Maintain confidentiality and ensure data security at all times.
Customer Service:
- Providing a welcoming and supportive environment for students parents and visitors.
- Addressing inquiries concerns and requests promptly and professionally.
- Assist with miscellaneous tasks and projects as assigned by the operations manager or administrative leadership.
- Part-Time 12-month employee.
- Salary to be recommended by HR and approved by the board.
- Performance will be evaluated annually in accordance with the boards policy on evaluation.
