Part-Time Head Coach E-Sports

Under the general direction of the Associate Vice President of Student Affairs the Head Coach for Esports is responsible for recruiting student-athletes and coaching during practices and competitions. The Head Coach communicates effectively with students parents coaches and tournament officials; and represents the College to prospective students by promoting academic programs and student services at SUNY Schenectady. This role includes preparing and submitting annual reports recommendations and budget requests as well as traveling with the team to competitions including evenings and weekends.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

The Head Coach has supervisory responsibility over the Assistant Coach and Student-Athletes.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Represent the College and Student Government Association in a professional manner at all times.
• Supervise and manage student-athletes during all practices competitions and team activities.
• Ensure compliance with ECAC and NJCAA guidelines and all applicable game and competition rules.
• Lead and support fundraising initiatives in accordance with College and Student Government policies.
• Enforce the Colleges Student Code of Conduct; address behavioral issues in accordance with institutional procedures.
• Manage the distribution use and return of team equipment.
• Prepare and submit annual budget requests related to the sports program
• Support recruitment efforts by effectively communicating information about academic programs and student services.
• Evaluate team performance and program effectiveness including competitive results recruitment and institutional support.
• Monitor student-athlete academic progress and collaborate with academic advisors to support student success.
• Maintain accurate records of team activities achievements and student participation and report to supervisor as required.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Associates Degree
• Demonstrated coaching instructional or supervised athletic leadership experience (athletic or esports)
• Ability to supervise and mentor college-aged students.
• Availability to work evenings weekends and travel as required.
• Ability to understand and enforce institutional and league policies
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Experience recruiting and retaining student-athletes or participants
• Experience supporting or leading fundraising initiatives and external engagement efforts.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with faculty staff and campus partners.
• Commitment to student development academic success and compliance with applicable regulations.
• Familiarity with esports environments competitive gaming or related platforms

Preferred Qualifications:

• Competitive playing experience in esports titles
• Collegiate coaching experience (traditional or esports)
• Prior experience with fundraising
• Bachelors Degree

Special Information:

• Schedule: Fall/Spring semester: Monday - Thursday 5pm-10pm. Summer semester: Monday - Thursday 12pm-5pm.
• VISA sponsorship is not available for this position.
• Offers of employment will be conditional based on the successful completion of a background check and verification of official College transcripts.

Salary: $17.34/per hour
