Part-Time Faculty, Exercise Science

Curry College founded in 1879 is a private four-year liberal arts-based institution in Milton Massachusetts. Curry is the only college in Massachusetts to guarantee students a job after graduation via The Curry Commitment program. The College is accredited by the New England Commission of Higher Education (NECHE) and offers 28 undergraduate majors over 50 minors and concentrations seven graduate programs and an associates degree. The College boasts a wide array of co-curricular activities including 40 student-run clubs and organizations and 19 NCAA Division III athletic teams.

Curry College has ongoing needs for part-time Faculty to teach in our Exercise Science program. Our curriculum prepares students for careers in strength and conditioning clinical exercise physiology rehabilitation sciences fitness and wellness and graduate study in allied health professions (e.g. physical therapy occupational therapy physician assistant athletic training and related fields). All of our courses are taught in person on our Milton MA campus. Days and hours of courses vary from semester to semester.

Part-time Faculty are responsible for planning and presenting course material for assigned lecture laboratory and/or applied experiential courses; defining specific course requirements and communicating them clearly to students; evaluating student performance on examinations projects laboratory competencies and practical assessments; submitting grades in a timely manner; and providing students with clear feedback regarding their progress. Part-time Faculty are expected to be available to interact electronically with students outside the classroom and to support student professional development.

Courses available may include but are not limited to:

Kinesiology Biomechanics Exercise Physiology Strength & Conditioning Exercise Testing & Exercise Programming Clinical Exercise Physiology Nutrition for Health and Fitness Performance Nutrition in Exercise and Sport Research Methods in Exercise Science Prevention and Care of Sports Injuries etc.

Requirements:

Minimum of a Masters degree* in a field related to Exercise Science. Examples include but are not limited to: Nutrition Exercise Physiology Physical Therapy Strength and Conditioning Human Performance Biomechanics Kinesiology etc.
Candidates should demonstrate relevant professional experience in fitness performance clinical research or rehabilitation settings.

If applicable candidate should demonstrate and maintain current nationally recognized professional certification or licensure appropriate to their professional area

Teaching experience is preferred but not required.

*In certain cases candidates with a Bachelors degree and substantial professional experience may be considered.

Salary:

$4500 per 3 credit course

*Please note: Eligibility for promotion to Lecturer and an increased rate of compensation are negotiated between the College and the Curry College AAUP.
