Job Description: The Latch program is a first-year support and learning community. It serves a diverse population of about 185 students per semester who are looking for support as they transition into college and develop their reading writing mathematics and other academic skills. For over 50 years Latchs community approach to education has helped students establish successful independent learning strategies and set realistic academic and career goals. The Latch program primarily serves students who have placed into one or more developmental courses have had unsatisfactory academic experiences in the past and/or have been away from school for a long time. Many of Latchs students are low-income students first-generation students students with disabilities and non-traditional students. This position primarily supportsLatch program students at Massasoits Canton campus. The PT Academic Counselor holistically supports and guides program participants through their experience at the college. This position is responsible for working with an assigned caseload of students to help them develop academic and career goals and ensure that their programs of study align with those goals. They will provide academic advising career counseling and referral services that support students seeking to earn their certificate and/or degree as well as to transfer to four-year institutions. The PT Academic Counselor will collaborate with other advising programs and offices. This position involves some travel between Massasoits Brockton and Canton campuses. Responsibilities and Duties:
Requirements: Masters degree in Education Counseling Psychology or closely related field; with three (3) years experience and/or training involving college admissions academic advisement career development or program/project management; or an equivalent combination of education training and experience. Preferred Qualifications:

Additional Information: Position Status:Part-time non-benefitted Massachusetts Community College Council (MCCC) union position. Hours:18 hours a week(Not to exceed 936 hours annually) Schedule: The schedule for this position is during weekday daytime hours. While specific scheduling needs will be discussed with the successful candidate the College may offer flexibility regarding the number of weekly hours during summer and winter breaks based on departmental needs. Salary:$36.55 per hour Worksite: Assignments will include all Massasoit sites and additional locations as necessary.
