Job Summary:
Safely ensures that lids are correctly packaged and packed in KDs (boxes) and placed on conveyor according to customer specifications and quality standards. Duties also include: lid inspection ensuring correct lid count preparation of KDs (boxes) housekeeping of the pack station area ensures automated packing tasks are completed appropriately while working in a safe manner by obeying all safety rules. Understand and align business operations through execution of the role exceeding customer expectations and aligning with GPIs business cultural financial and operational objectives.

- Work within and adhere to GPIs core values of Integrity Respect Accountability Relationships and Teamwork
- Perform all duties in a safe and productive manner
- Be actively engaged in all safety programs
- Inspects lids prior to being placed in KD (boxes)
- Places the full case onto the conveyor so that it can move to the QAC station for final inspection
- Opens and positions new KD on KD stand
- Stamps and numbers all required information on KDs for manual pack stations
- Ensures that correct information is printed on KDs and is legible
- Obtains new film as needed
- Ensures labeler is kept clean at all times
- Operates case erector which includes loading appropriate KDs and ensuring a smooth transition on change overs
- Cleans seal bar on auto baggers as needed
- Starts stops clears and safely operates auto baggers and case erectors including film kd label and ink loading
- Segregates spoilage and recyclable items and places in appropriate paper containers
- Removes jammed product (lids) from the auto baggers and case erectors
- Notifies Shift Supervisor or Group Leader of any problems that arise that are beyond the scope of the Packers duties including: product quality excessive spoilage mechanical problems shortage of necessary supplies and material handling problems
- Relieves other Utility Packers during break and lunch periods
- Assists personnel (i.e. Quality) during product design change overs
- Maintains ink printers which includes purging printer ink and cleaning printer heads
- At shift change ensures that clock number and shift are changed on ink jet labeler
- Maintains 5S in assigned area by keeping work area and equipment clean and orderly
- Records and maintains correct tally of production
- Once qualified instructs and trains other packers in proper procedures regarding all work tasks
- Manages workload as necessary to ensure production requirements are met as well as shut-down and
- start-up requirements before and after the completion of the shift
- Communicates effectively with oncoming shift about any issues
- Maintains work system tools
- Assist the Quality department in sorting through finished product at our distribution center as required
- Fulfill overtime requirements necessary to ensure production and distribution requirements are met
- 1-2 years previous manufacturing experience preferred
- Well-developed communications and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work in a high paced and multi-taking environment
- Maintains positive team environment
- Demonstrated organizational skills and highly detail oriented
- Self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision
- Ability to follow verbal and written instruction
- Ability to perform the essential physical functions of the position with or without accommodation. This includes: walking or standing for extended periods of time up to 12 hours; climbing stairs at a case erector; lifting up to 50 pounds; carrying up to 30 pounds; lowering up to 30 pounds from a height of 4 feed; pushing up to 250 pounds using a cart; visual acuity and depth perception; working in various temperatures and humidity levels.
Follow all Plant rules Processes Hygiene and Allergens procedures related to production of Safe Quality Foods.
Report to person of authority to record any potentially unsafe conditions which may result in unsafe foods or noncompliance to SQF related procedures.
Participate in SQF Root Cause and Corrective Actions (from customer complaints SQF audits validation and verification activities) as required.
Follow all procedures related to producing Safe Quality Foods (SQF).
Report any potentially unsafe SQF conditions or customer complaints to a person of authority to record and/or correct the situation.
