Primavera P6 Project Planner / Scheduler
Client: Refinery
Location: Paulsboro NJ
Duration: Long Term ongoing
Schedule: Part-Time (24hrs a week) OR Full-Time (40hrs a week)
Position Summary
The ProjectPlanner / Scheduler (Primavera P6) is responsible for developing planning scheduling and coordinating capital project activities to ensure safe reliable and cost-effective operation of refinery petrochemical or industrial facilities. This position works closely with Operations Maintenance Engineering Contractors and Turnaround Teams to develop detailed work plans resource schedules and execution strategies utilizing Primavera P6 CMMS systems (SAP preferred) and industry best practices.
The ideal candidate possesses extensive experience in capital project maintenance and/or Turnaround planning and scheduling within refinery petrochemical power generation or heavy industrial environments and has a strong understanding of mechanical piping electrical instrumentation and inspection work processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop comprehensive job plans for capital projects as well as routine preventative corrective and outage maintenance activities.
- Review work requests and convert approved work orders into executable work packages.
- Create detailed work scopes labor estimates equipment requirements tools permits and safety considerations.
- Coordinate with Operations to identify equipment availability and establish maintenance windows.
- Ensure all materials spare parts drawings procedures and resources are available prior to job execution.
- Support maintenance backlog management and work prioritization efforts.
Scheduling
- Develop and maintain resource-loaded project schedules using Primavera P6.
- Create short-range mid-range and long-range schedules.
- Optimize manpower utilization while minimizing downtime and production impacts.
- Monitor schedule performance and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Update schedules based on field progress scope changes and emergent work.
Turnaround & Project Support
- Develop and maintain detailed turnaround shutdown and outage schedules.
- Build logic-driven schedules with critical path analysis.
- Coordinate contractor activities and integrate schedules across multiple disciplines.
- Track progress during execution and provide schedule recovery recommendations when needed.
- Participate in scope development estimating and resource forecasting activities.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Associates Degree or Bachelors Degree in Engineering Construction Management Industrial Technology or related field preferred.
- Minimum 5 years of maintenance planning and scheduling experience in a refinery petrochemical plant power generation facility or heavy industrial environment.
- Minimum 3 years of Primavera P6 scheduling experience.
