About the Opportunity

A leading established door systems provider in East-Central Wisconsin is seeking a dependable mechanically skilled Field Service Technician to join our team in Fond du Lac.

We specialize exclusively in commercial overhead door systems (rolling steel sectional doors high-speed fabric doors) and residential garage doors. While previous overhead door experience is a strong plus we are actively hiring mechanically skilled technicians from adjacent tradesincluding automotive technicians fleet mechanics equipment technicians and elevator service personnel.

If you have solid mechanical fundamentals understand how to use hand and power tools can read a tape measure down to the 1/16 and know how to work around mechanical spring assemblies and low-voltage control boxes we will train you on the rest and set you up for success.

Key Responsibilities

  • Service & Installation: Troubleshoot repair replace and install commercial sectional doors rolling steel doors high-speed doors and residential garage doors.
  • Operator Wiring & Diagnostics: Wire test and troubleshoot low-voltage commercial operators control panels 3-button stations photo-eyes and safety edges.
  • Mechanical Alignment: Accurately measure openings square and align vertical and horizontal tracks hang commercial spring assemblies and set counterbalance tension safely.
  • Safe Jobsite Execution: Operate comfortably and safely off ladders scissor lifts and boom lifts in commercial facilities warehouses and residential garages following OSHA guidelines.
  • Customer Communication: Communicate clearly and professionally with commercial facility managers and homeowners regarding completed work system operations and safety recommendations.

Qualifications

Mechanical Aptitude (Required): 2 years of hands-on mechanical troubleshooting repair or installation experience. Strong crossover backgrounds include:

  • Commercial overhead doors or residential garage door installation/repair
  • Automotive service dealership repair or lube/tire technician work
  • Industrial maintenance conveyor repair or machinery service
  • Elevator/escalator maintenance or equipment mechanics
  • Core Technical Skills: Comfortable using hand and power tools (impact drivers angle grinders hammer drills) accurately reading a tape measure and understanding basic low-voltage wiring.
  • Heights & Physical Demands: Comfortable working at heights on ladders scissor lifts and boom lifts; ability to lift 50 lbs safely on active jobsites.
  • Valid Drivers License: Valid drivers license with a clean insurable driving record.
  • Bonus (Not Required): Basic stick/MIG welding experience or aerial lift certifications.
