Our Operating Room Surgical Technicians play a crucial role in assisting surgeons and nurses during surgical procedures ensuring that the operating room functions smoothly and safely. Responsibilities
  • Prepare operating rooms for surgical procedures ensuring that all equipment instruments and supplies are properly sterilized organized and available for use.
  • Assist surgical team by passing instruments supplies and equipment during procedures anticipating the needs of the surgeon and maintaining a sterile field.
  • Set up and operate specialized surgical equipment including lights suction devices and diagnostic equipment following manufacturer instructions and safety guidelines.
  • Monitor and maintain aseptic technique throughout surgical procedures including draping gowning and gloving to prevent infection and ensure patient safety.
  • Assist with patient positioning and prepping applying sterile drapes and securing equipment as directed by the surgical team.
  • Anticipate and respond to emergency situations in the operating room including providing additional supplies or assistance as needed.
  • Collaborate with surgical team members to ensure efficient workflow and timely completion of procedures communicating effectively and respectfully with all team members.
  • Assist with post-operative tasks such as wound closure dressing application and transferring patients to recovery areas following established protocols and guidelines.
  • Participate in quality assurance activities including maintaining accurate records of surgical procedures equipment usage and patient care documentation.
  • Adhere to hospital policies procedures and safety protocols at all times promoting a culture of safety and accountability in the operating room.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; completion of accredited surgical technology program preferred.
  • Must possess one (1) year experience in hospital minimum of 1 year current operating room experience.
  • Knowledge of surgical procedures instrumentation and sterile technique.
  • Ability to anticipate surgeons needs and adapt to changing priorities during surgical procedures.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse team members under pressure.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and upholding ethical standards in patient care.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
Credentials
  • Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) credential required.
  • BLS Basic Life Saving Certification
Education
  • High school diploma or equivalent required additional education or certification in sterile processing preferred
  • Graduated from a Surgical Technology program
