Apple is where individual imaginations gather together committing to the values that lead to great work. Every new product we build service we create or Apple Store experience we deliver is the result of us making each others ideas stronger. That happens because every one of us shares a belief that we can make something wonderful and share it with the world changing lives for the better. Its the diversity of our people and their thinking that inspires the innovation that runs through everything we do. When we bring everybody in we can do the best work of our lives. Here youll do more than join something youll add something.
The Camera Hardware Engineering group is responsible for all research design development test and qualification of camera hardware for Apple products. Our target is to deliver superior camera hardware to enable best-in-class camera user experience. The team is looking for an Optical Engineer to work on the development of custom illumination and sensing components.
Simulate optimize and tolerance the performance of complex illumination systems involving coherent light sources lenses coatings diffusers and diffractive elements. nCharacterize the optical behavior of materials and surfaces and develop new optical models and tests as with mechanical and software engineering teams to integrate optical designs into compact form factors build prototypes and investigate hardware issues found during development.
Bachelors in Optical Science Optical Engineering Physics or relevant field of study with 2 years of relevant work in modeling and analyzing illumination systems using optical simulation software such as LightTools FRED Zemax or CODEV.
Graduate degree with 5 years of industry be capable of and be responsible for generating documentation describing optical components optical performance characteristics and optical testing with simulations involving coherent light propagation and with optical metrology techniques in particular radiometric measurements and coherent source measurements such as laser with the development of scripts to automate optical simulations and data analysis (such as Python Matlab VB or C).nFamiliarity with CAD software such as NX or to interface with cross-functional teams to support integration of illumination components into systems and assess feasibility of new optical be able to manage multiple projects and priorities take initiative and explore new ideas.
