Job Summary:

The Ophthalmic Tester is able to handle a wide range of duties while using equipment to perform the initial testing needed to prepare a patient for an exam.

Duties/Responsibilities:

Complete all the testing for OCT anterior segment photography Visual Field Fundus photography

Upload any results of imaging and testing

Scanning documents prior authorizations other paperwork into patients chart

Verifying letters (Diabetes Plaquenil Referral etc.) have been sent to appropriate Doctor from previous day and if not sending the letter

Calling for labs (Quest) when needed when scribe is unavailable

Recalls in-between patients and downtime

Interact with all patients using a high level of respect and professionalism

Comply with HIPPA confidentiality standards when accessing or communicating patient information

Requirements

Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Ability to interact with patients and employees in a courteous professional manner at all times

Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail

Ability to multi-task and function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment

Education and Experience:

High School Diploma or equivalent

Minimum one year of experience in a medical practice or hospital setting preferred

Experience in an ophthalmology practice preferred

Physical Requirements:

Frequent bending reaching and repetitive hand movements (specifically keyboarding and writing)

standing walking squatting and sitting with some lifting pushing and pulling up to 10 pounds.

Travel to other offices including Surgery Center as needed
