Position Overview

Marathon Roofing & Contracting is seeking an experienced hands-on Operations Manager to lead its residential roofing operations throughout Central Florida with a proven history.

This experienced leader will oversee daily operation of the company including projects from inspection through signed contract permitting procurement installation customer acceptance warranty closeout and final payment. Responsibilities will include overseeing the admins with production scheduling project management crew and subcontractor leadership quality control safety material purchasing customer communication and operational profitability.

The Operations Manager will work directly with ownership and connect sales administration suppliers field teams inspectors and homeowners. This is not strictly an office position if you find it productive to include field visits. The successful candidate must be comfortable with meeting with reps implementing marketing strategies coaching employees resolving customer concerns and responding quickly when projects require attention.

Key Responsibilities

Operational Leadership

  • Direct daily roofing production service and field operations.
  • Establish consistent workflows from sales turnover through project closeout.
  • Coordinate ownership sales estimating project management accounting suppliers subcontractors and customers.
  • Lead regular production meetings covering schedules project status constraints customer concerns and financial performance.
  • Identify operational bottlenecks and implement solutions that improve capacity quality and profitability.
  • Assist ownership with budgets staffing plans operating goals and growth strategies.

Project Delivery thru Admin & Account Coordinators

  • Oversee roofing projects from signed contract through installation inspection final invoicing and warranty registration.
  • Review project scopes measurements estimates product selections and job-cost assumptions before production.
  • Maintain master schedules for replacements repairs maintenance visits and storm-restoration projects.
  • Assign project managers supervisors technicians and subcontractor crews.
  • Coordinate permits homeowner-association requirements inspections and project documentation.
  • Address weather permitting labor material or site conditions that could affect delivery.
  • Ensure all work meets contract requirements Florida Building Code manufacturer specifications and Marathons standards.
  • Manage punch lists callbacks warranty issues and project closeout.

Crew and Subcontractor Management thru Production Management

  • Recruit onboard schedule and manage roofing crews and subcontractors.
  • Verify insurance workers compensation safety documentation and contractual requirements.
  • Establish clear expectations for productivity workmanship safety communication and jobsite cleanliness.
  • Monitor crew performance and address quality or reliability issues.
  • Maintain enough qualified crew capacity to support company growth and storm-response demand.
  • Approve subcontractor invoices after confirming completion workmanship and documentation.

Maintain Quality and Safety Guidelines

  • Implement quality-control standards covering shingle tile metal repair flashing ventilation and related roofing work.
  • Conduct jobsite inspections before during and after installation.
  • Ensure roofs comply with approved scopes codes and manufacturer installation requirements.
  • Confirm proper protection of homes landscaping pools driveways and neighboring property.
  • Track inspection failures callbacks leaks warranty claims and rework.
  • Maintain compliance with OSHA requirements fall protection ladder safety heat-illness prevention and company policies.
  • Conduct safety meetings training and jobsite audits.
  • Investigate incidents property damage and safety violations.

Materials Equipment and Fleet

  • Oversee material inventory and pricing with distributors
  • Develop strong relationships with roofing manufacturers distributors suppliers and other providers.
  • Minimize material waste emergency purchases duplicate orders theft and unnecessary delivery expenses.
  • Oversee company vehicles trailers ladders tools and safety equipment.
  • Establish inspection and preventive-maintenance schedules for company assets.

Financial Performance

  • Manage operations to established revenue gross-margin labor-cost and material-cost targets.
  • Review job-cost reports and compare actual results with estimates.
  • Identify margin erosion and take corrective action.
  • Approve operational purchases vendor invoices subcontractor payments and field expenses.
  • Work with accounting to support accurate invoicing and timely collection.
  • Prepare weekly and monthly performance reports for ownership.

  • Ensure warranties maintenance recommendations and final project records are provided at closeout.
  • Protect Marathons reputation through professional communication and timely problem resolution.

Team Development and Storm Response

  • Lead coach and evaluate project managers supervisors coordinators technicians and operational staff.
  • Establish clear roles reporting relationships and performance expectations.
  • Participate in recruiting onboarding training and performance reviews.
  • Build operational plans for hurricane hail wind and severe-weather events.
  • Prepare crew-capacity supplier emergency-repair inspection and customer-communication plans.
  • Ensure storm-related growth does not compromise safety quality ethics or financial controls.

Required Qualifications

  • Seven or more years of proven leadership within the residential roofing market.
  • At least three years in operations production project or multi-crew leadership.
  • Experience managing multiple roofing projects and crews simultaneously.
  • Knowledge of residential shingle tile and metal roofing systems.
  • Understanding of reroofing leak diagnosis flashing ventilation underlayment penetrations and storm damage.
  • Experience with production scheduling crew management procurement quality control and job costing.
  • Knowledge of OSHA safety requirements and fall protection.
  • Familiarity with Florida Building Code permitting and inspections.
  • Ability to read contracts scopes estimates measurements specifications and manufacturer instructions.
  • Strong leadership communication organization and conflict-resolution skills.
  • Proficiency with CRM scheduling project-management photo-documentation and spreadsheet software.
  • Valid drivers license and acceptable driving record.
  • Ability to climb ladders inspect roofs visit active jobsites and work outdoors in Florida conditions.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Seven or more years of roofing or specialty-construction experience.
  • Experience scaling a residential roofing operation.
  • Experience managing both roof replacement and repair operations.
  • Knowledge of insurance restoration and storm-response work.
  • Experience with AccuLynx JobTread Roofr CompanyCam Buildertrend ServiceTitan or similar systems.
  • Manufacturer roofing certifications.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish skills are a plus.
  • Degree in construction management business operations engineering or related field work.

Substantial roofing knowledge and proven leadership may substitute for a degree.
