Position Summary

Primary Purpose: Maintain safe functional and aesthetically pleasing landscaping and athletic areas across district properties.

Key Responsibilities

Lawn and Turf Care: Mow edge and trim lawns curbs and sidewalks. Fertilize aerate seed and control weeds across district property.

Landscaping: Plant prune and care for trees shrubs flowers and flower beds. Mulch planting beds and clear leaves or debris.

Athletic Field Maintenance: Prepare athletic fields for games by mowing dragging chalking lines and painting stripes.

Grounds Upkeep: Empty outdoor trash cans pick up litter from grounds and parking lots and pressure wash concrete surfaces.

Irrigation and Repairs: Inspect clean and perform minor repairs on sprinkler systems and drainage areas.

Equipment Maintenance: Perform routine preventive maintenance cleaning and light repairs on mowers tractors weed eaters and hand tools.

Safety and Compliance: Follow strict OSHA and district safety protocols when operating power machinery or handling fertilizers and herbicides. Report unsafe conditions or playground hazards immediately.

Qualifications

Education: High school diploma or GED preferred or basic reading and writing skills.

Experience: Prior experience in commercial groundskeeping landscaping or operating small engine power equipment.

Licenses: Valid drivers license (often a state drivers license is required to drive district trucks/trailers).

Physical Demands: Ability to work outdoors in extreme weather conditions (heat cold rain) walk or stand for long hours and regularly lift/carry equipment weighing 45 to 50 pounds or more.
