Network System Engineer

Genesis10 is currently seeking a Mainframe Network Engineer for a hybrid position with a Global Financial Institution located in Chandler AZ; Plano TX; Charlotte NC; Pennington NJ; or Jersey City NJ. This is a 12 month contract opportunity.

This role involves configuring and maintaining z/OS Communications Server (VTAM TCP/IP) to support mission-critical banking workloads. The ideal candidate will engineer high-availability designs implement robust security configurations and leverage automation for proactive monitoring and recovery in a large-scale Parallel Sysplex environment. This position requires a hybrid schedule with a minimum of 3 days per week onsite.

Responsibilities:

• Configure and maintain z/OS Communications Server (VTAM TCP/IP)
• Engineer TCP/IP stacks OSA interfaces routing VIPA/DVIPA and Sysplex Distributor
• Support SNA/APPN/Enterprise Extender (EE) for legacy and hybrid banking applications
• Design and support TN3270 connectivity for internal/external users and vendor integrations
• Implement and manage AT-TLS IPSec and Policy Agent (PAGENT) configurations for encrypted communications
• Administer digital certificates SAF keyrings and encryption protocols (SSL/TLS SSH)
• Enforce network segmentation access controls and secure file transfer standards (SFTP FTPS Connect: Direct)
• Engineer high-availability designs using Sysplex technologies DVIPA and dynamic routing
• Support disaster recovery (DR) exercises failover testing and continuity planning
• Leverage NetView OMEGAMON and automation tooling for proactive monitoring and recovery
• Perform deep-dive analysis using packet traces TCP/IP traces VTAM traces and IPCS diagnostics
• Monitor and optimize network throughput latency and connection scaling for peak banking workloads

Requirements:

• 10 years of experience in z/OS Communications Server (VTAM TCP/IP)
• Deep expertise in TCP/IP SNA VTAM enterprise routing and DNS
• Hands-on experience with Policy Agent (AT-TLS IPSec)
• Hands-on experience with secure file transfer (Connect: Direct SFTP FTPS)
• Hands-on experience with NetView or equivalent monitoring tools
• Strong troubleshooting skills in high-volume production environments
• Experience supporting Parallel Sysplex architectures (DVIPA/Sysplex Distributor)

Pay range: $60.24 - $68.24 per hour
