Network Administrator WAN

Job Responsibilities
  • Provide 24/7 WAN transport operations support.
  • Troubleshoot and develop solutions using LAN/WAN protocols including BGP OSPF and EIGRP.
  • Configure monitor and troubleshoot IP/MPLS backbone networks.
  • Assist with installation and configuration of existing and new WAN transport systems.
  • Develop standardized testing and cutover plans for new WAN equipment.
  • Establish testing and remote-monitoring procedures to ensure reliable WAN operations.
  • Collect and analyze networking metrics to identify substandard network performance.
  • Configure and troubleshoot Quality of Service (QoS) including policing shaping and queuing.
  • Document and report bandwidth and network security incidents for analysis and trending.
  • Provide first-level technical support to users and escalate complex issues when necessary.
  • Act as a technical consultant and provide recommendations for optimizing WAN transport networks.
  • Identify and evaluate the operational impact of network outages.
  • Coordinate with external agencies for outage resolution.
  • Perform required outage notifications according to established policies and procedures.
  • Support daily communication status reporting.
  • Provide general networking support.
  • Provide LAN support.
  • Provide WAN enterprise support.
  • Provide technical and general operations and maintenance (O&M) support.
  • Prepare and maintain technical documentation and reports.
  • Support meetings and technical briefings.
  • Provide functional training as required.
  • Support CONUS and OCONUS deployments and temporary duty travel as required.
Required Qualifications
  • 3 years of relevant experience.
  • Experience with firewalls.
  • Experience supporting enterprise LAN and WAN environments.
  • Experience with Microsoft server installation and administration.
  • Knowledge of server roles and Active Directory.
  • Experience with storage performance management and server maintenance.
