The Quality Technician is responsible for conducting routine quality inspections throughout the production process including in-process and final product inspections to ensure products meet established quality standards and specifications. This position utilizes a variety of precision measuring tools and inspection equipment to verify product dimensions workmanship and compliance with applicable requirements. The Quality Technician is also responsible for performing equipment calibrations workstation audits and quality checks identifying discrepancies or nonconforming conditions and supporting corrective actions to maintain consistent product quality.
Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate lead and uphold safety policies practices procedures and housekeeping standards at all times.
- Monitor and report daily First Pass Yield (FPY) results to the appropriate Supervisor.
- Investigate quality issues and perform and document Root Cause Analysis (RCA) to identify causes and corrective actions.
- Conduct daily quality audits across various production departments to ensure compliance with established standards and procedures.
- Develop complete and maintain accurate daily inspection reports and quality documentation.
- Inspect incoming in-process and finished products to verify compliance with established quality and safety standards.
- Ensure products meet company specifications customer requirements drawings and applicable quality standards.
- Identify and promptly report quality defects nonconformances and other anomalies to the appropriate Supervisor.
- Identify opportunities to improve quality control processes inspection methods and overall product quality.
- Document quality defects corrective actions and recurring issues to support continuous improvement efforts.
- Train and provide guidance to teammates regarding identified quality issues proper inspection practices and corrective actions.
- Partner with Production to perform required inspections and testing efficiently while minimizing unnecessary disruptions to production.
- Maintain accurate and organized quality records in accordance with company procedures.
- Support corrective and preventive actions and follow up to verify effectiveness as assigned.
- Perform other related duties and responsibilities as assigned by supervision.
- Strong commitment to Safety and Quality in all aspects.
- Ability to use calipers micrometers height gage etc.
- Understand basic Blueprint Drawings and GD&T callouts.
- Ability to apply quality standards to manufacturing processes.
- Demonstrated ability to work with others to get processes back within control.
- Ability to work under pressure in a team environment
- Supervisor and/or Manager Recommendation
- High School Graduate/GED or combination of education and experience.
- High-level of visual awareness.
- Advanced organizational skills.
- Possess proficiency with MS Office tools including Excel PowerPoint and Outlook.
- Relevant Quality experience of 23 years.
