Job Summary

The Motor & Generator Winder performs winding rewinding insulation connection test support and electrical rebuild work on heavy-industrial motors generators armatures rotors stators fields and related rotating electrical equipment serving utilities water mining manufacturing semiconductor aerospace agriculture food production power generation and other mission-critical markets.

This full-spectrum role is intended for developing through highly experienced winders. Developing candidates should bring electrical aptitude careful hand skills and willingness to learn specialized rewind processes. Experienced candidates may independently perform rewind connection insulation documentation test support troubleshooting field service and mentoring.

Applicants from motor generator transformer industrial electrical controls instrumentation aviation electrical military electrical electromechanical repair and detailed electrical assembly backgrounds are encouraged to apply.

• Remove windings insulation systems wedges blocking bracing leads and electrical connections.
• Record winding data during teardown and repair including coil counts turns wire size span pitch groups lead markings connections RTDs heaters jumpers test results and discrepancies.
• Prepare stators rotors armatures fields cores slots leads and components for rewind or repair.
• Manufacture install repair connect tape block brace varnish bake and inspect random-wound coils and windings.
• Install align block brace wedge tie lace connect and inspect form-wound coils and related winding components.
• Apply slot phase groundwall and lead insulation; coil separators; wedges; blocking; bracing; surge protection; varnish; resin; and bake processes per scope and procedure.
• Make route secure and inspect leads jumpers group connections neutral connections RTDs heaters and electrical connections using approved brazing soldering Silfos crimping bolted or TIG-supported methods.
• Perform or support electrical testing including megger surge hipot core loss AC/DC power factor partial discharge El-Cid and other shop test procedures.
• Read and interpret winding data drawings diagrams specifications work instructions and repair procedures.
• Identify failure evidence including burn patterns grounds phase-to-phase or turn-to-turn failures tracking overheating contamination loose coils rub damage mechanical damage and core damage indicators.
• Follow safety quality environmental electrical test lifting rigging and shop procedures; maintain clean organized protected work areas.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

• Electrical and mechanical aptitude with strong hand skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to follow winding data drawings diagrams procedures specifications and verbal instructions.
• Ability to learn and apply rewind practices insulation systems connection methods test requirements and documentation standards.
• Ability to work carefully around high-value coils windings cores leads insulation systems and components.
• Ability to work independently or under close supervision depending on experience level and job complexity.

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Mechanical/electrical aptitude and willingness to learn specialized rewind processes.
• Ability to read and understand work instructions safety instructions and technical documentation.
• Ability to safely perform physical work in an industrial shop environment.

• Motor generator transformer random-wound form-wound armature rotor stator field or high-voltage rewind experience.
• Experience with basic testing including core loss hipot surge megger AC/DC tests to advanced tests including partial discharge or El-Cid testing etc.
• Experience with brazing soldering Silfos crimping bolted connections TIG-supported work or related electrical connection methods.
• Experience with slot phase groundwall or lead insulation; wedging; blocking; bracing; varnish; resin; bake cycles; or contamination control.
• Valid drivers license may be required for field service customer-site support or travel assignments.

• Work schedule may vary based on customer and shop needs.
• Overtime may be required.
• Weekend work shift work emergency call-outs field service or overnight travel may be required.

• Promote safety for self coworkers customers and visitors at all times.
• Identify communicate and help correct unsafe conditions.
• Wear required PPE which may include safety footwear eye protection hearing protection gloves hard hat respirator or other job-specific protection.
• Ability to stand walk bend kneel climb reach use hands and fingers and perform detailed hand work throughout the workday.
• Ability to safely handle winding materials coils insulation systems tools and components.
• Ability to work around cranes forklifts ovens test equipment electrical equipment cleaning processes rotating equipment and large industrial components.

• Winders who demonstrate strong workmanship safety awareness technical ability documentation discipline field-service readiness and leadership potential may advance into experienced winder senior winder lead winder crew lead field rewind support test support supervisory or other technical roles.
