Mill Operator

Key Tasks and Responsibilities

• Perform all pre-shift and workplace examination prior to operation.

• Study blueprint layout and other specifications to determine crude clay needs sequence of operations and dimensions.

• Move controls to set specifications and start machine. Adjust machine feed and speed change cutting tools or adjust machine controls as needed or when automatic programming is faulty/ machines malfunction.

• Perform in-process product testing to ensure quality according to set specifications. Record test results on quality report submitted to lab.

• Observe machine operation and use quality tests (with emphasis on moisture & grind) to make adjustments to controls/ crude mix to ensure conformance within specification tolerances and efficient machine operation.

• Perform basic equipment greasing while mill is not in operation.

• Assist other departments dump hoppers cleaning feeder tanks and maintenance as needed.

Skills and Attributes Requirements

• Working knowledge of production process and computerized milling controls.

• Safety protocols for operating milling system.

• Routine equipment maintenance.

Education/Experience Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent
