Position Summary
Academies of Math and Science (AMS) is a network of high-performing K8 public charter schools committed to academic excellence college readiness and equitable access to high-quality education for students in historically underserved communities.
AMS is seeking a passionate data-driven Humanities Teacher to deliver rigorous standards-aligned instruction while building strong literacy analytical thinking communication and writing skills. The ideal candidate is committed to fostering a love of reading and writing while preparing scholars for high school through engaging evidence-based instruction.
AMS teachers are collaborative professionals who believe that all scholars can achieve at high levels through structured instruction strong classroom culture and consistent data-driven decision-making.
Deliver rigorous standards-aligned English Language Arts instruction aligned to AMS curriculum frameworks.
Teach reading comprehension literary analysis informational text argumentative and narrative writing grammar vocabulary and speaking and listening skills.
Differentiate instruction to support students performing above and below grade level.
Use formative and summative assessment data to drive instructional planning and targeted interventions.
Prepare students for high school-level literacy expectations through rigorous instruction and critical thinking.
Establish and maintain a structured positive and high-expectations classroom environment.
Implement PBIS and preventative intervention strategies.
Support students academic behavioral and social-emotional development.
Create an inclusive classroom that encourages student voice collaboration and respectful discussion.
Participate in weekly professional development and professional learning communities.
Collaborate with grade-level teams and instructional leaders to continuously improve teaching practices.
Contribute to school-wide systems and continuous improvement initiatives.
Communicate regularly with families regarding student progress.
Lead parent-teacher conferences and maintain strong home-school partnerships.
Candidates must meet one of the following requirements:
Bachelors degree in a related field (e.g. Education English Secondary Education Elementary Education or a relevant content area)
OR
Valid Arizona teaching certification in a relevant subject area
OR
Minimum of three (3) years of K12 teaching experience
Additionally candidates must:
Demonstrate strong classroom management skills.
Pass required background checks and obtain an IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card.
Show commitment to serving Title I and multilingual communities.
Demonstrate strong analytical skills and a data-driven instructional mindset.
Exhibit collaboration professionalism and initiative in a team-based environment.
