Mercy STL Nurse Externship Winter

Are you a nursing student looking to gain hands-on clinical experience during your winter break The Mercy St. Louis Hospital Nurse Externship offers a unique opportunity to bridge the gap between classroom learning and real-world nursing practice.

As a paid Nurse Extern you will work approximately 36 hours per week alongside experienced Mercy nurses rotating through a variety of acute care units and gaining valuable clinical exposure.

Participating in the Mercy Nurse Externship will help you:

• Deepen your understanding of the RN role in an acute care setting
• Build confidence in providing both direct and indirect patient care
• Strengthen your clinical skills through one-on-one preceptor support

• IV therapy
• Foley catheter care
• NG tube care and tube feeding
• Ostomy care
• Point-of-care testing
• Phlebotomy and specimen collection
• Simple dressing changes
• Head-to-toe assessments
• Tracheostomy care

To be considered applicants must have:

• Completed at least two semesters of nursing school by the start of the externship
• Completed at least one clinical rotation
