Duration: 13-Week Contract
Shift: Days 7:00 AM - 7:30 PM
Schedule: 3 12-hour shifts per week
Hours: 36 hours/week
EMR: Cerner
Pay Rate: $70.00/hour

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Medical-Surgical Registered Nurse (RN) for a 13-week contract at a rural community hospital in Machias Maine. The RN will provide safe high-quality patient- and family-centered care to adult medical-surgical patients.

The ideal candidate should be comfortable working independently performing comprehensive assessments managing changing patient conditions and responding effectively to urgent or emergency situations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide comprehensive nursing care to adult Medical-Surgical patients.
  • Perform thorough physical psychosocial and risk assessments upon admission and throughout the shift.
  • Administer medications and manage IV therapies in accordance with clinical standards.
  • Monitor patient conditions and respond promptly to changes in clinical status.
  • Maintain accurate and timely electronic documentation using the Cerner EMR system.
  • Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary healthcare teams to coordinate patient care and discharge planning.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with all applicable hospital policies and Maine nursing regulations.
  • Demonstrate sound clinical judgment and the ability to work independently in a hospital setting.
Requirements & Qualifications
  • Experience: 1-2 years of recent Med/Surg RN experience in an acute-care hospital setting.
  • License: Active unrestricted Maine RN license or an active Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) multistate license.
  • Certifications: Current BLS/BCLS and ACLS certifications required.
  • Strong clinical assessment communication and critical-thinking skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced hospital environment.
