Role Overview
The Medium Voltage Technician is an experienced Journeyman or Master industrial service electrician who troubleshoots repairs and installs electrical systems across a wide variety of customer environments with a focus on medium voltage distribution (5kV to 25kV) and industrial controls. The role covers everything from motor control and PLC troubleshooting to generator and UPS installations MV terminations and HiPot testing.
This is a client-facing position. The technician represents the company on the customers site works with minimal direct supervision and is expected to manage a small crew when the job calls for it.
Core Responsibilities
- Perform medium voltage (5kV to 25kV) installations cable terminations and HiPot testing
- Troubleshoot a wide variety of industrial and manufacturing electrical systems
- Troubleshoot and install motor control systems
- Perform manufacturing and light industrial installations including UPS systems
- Install and connect standby generator systems
- Troubleshoot and program PLCs
- Manage a small crew on larger service and installation jobs
- Provide professional responsive customer service in client-facing situations
- Maintain a safe clean and organized jobsite and wear all required PPE
- Complete accurate work orders time and material documentation for each job
Required Background
- State of Texas Master or Journeyman Electrician license required
- Hands-on experience with medium voltage installation termination and testing
- Strong industrial troubleshooting background across power distribution motor controls and automation
- Valid Texas drivers license and a clean driving record
- Able to pass a drug screen and a 10-year national background check
- Professional appearance and demeanor
- Able to work 8 to 10 hour days plus overtime and night shifts as required in all weather conditions
- Able to routinely lift more than 50 pounds; physical work is more than 70% of the job
- Texas CDL is a plus
- Certified thermographer is a plus
- MM fiber and Cat5/Cat6 cabling troubleshooting installation and testing experience is a plus
