Medical Support Assistant - RESPONSIBILITIES (listed are included but not limited to)
- Assists in reviewing patient information to help determine eligibility for care rules and regulations the service delivery areas tribal membership and residence.
- Assists in examining alternate resources for patients under the program and screens for patient eligibility through Medicare Medicaid Vocation Rehabilitation V.A. private insurance or other third-party programs.
- Assists in reviewing paper and electronic health records (i.e. scanned notes reports special tests etc.) collects patient medical information patient visits and discharge dates to complete medical referrals and decisions of payments.
- On own initiative receives and distributes all mail. Ensure the letters requesting reconsideration for payment are made available to the supervisor promptly.
- Provide excellent customer services to patients and visitors answer inquiries or address requests and direct them to the appropriate personnel.
- Participates on behalf of patients for benefit determination or bills in collection.
- Proficient with MS Word MS Outlook and MS Excel to send paperless bills and communicate with outside providers.
- Experience: Must have some experience with a minimum of 6months of clerical office customer service or other administrative work that inicates the ability to acquire the particular knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties of this position.
- Education: Must have a minimum of a High School Diploma.
- Certification/Licensure: Must be a Certified Medical Assistant.
- Must provide proof of vaccination records or provide an approved medical or religious exemption.
