Job Summary
The Need:
Our client is current looking for a Mechanical Engineer or someone with equivalent experience to be responsible for completing the Mechanical portion of small to large projects as well as overall preparation and coordination of the Engineering deliverables for the project. They will assist management with pre-studies of deployment and development projects in the Mechanical field. They will also execute design studies follow procurement and fabrication of equipment and manage the installation commissioning and startup of the equipment in an industrial plant environment.
This support is needed starting immediately and currently does not have a defined end date. The position will be reassessed on a regular basis.
Location: Anderson SC (Onsite)
Pay: $48$53/hour May be negotiabe depending on experience and qualifications (W2 Contract)
Contract: Long-term with possible CTH after 6 months
Work Status: Must be authorized to work in the U.S. (Green Card or US Citizen only)
Work Schedule:
- Normal work hours 40 hrs/ week Monday Friday however occasional shifts in schedules can be made to provide coverage for project installations and start-ups requiring weekend or holiday coverage.
- Overtime work may be approved as needed but will not be typical.
- Work Plant Shutdowns as needed. This work almost always falls on weekends & Holidays.
- Work schedules will vary based on project need and assignment.
- Up to 5% domestic and some international travel
Day-to-day job responsibilities:
- Provide Mechanical Engineering design for assigned projects including machine specification sizing and selection mechanical part assembly and schematic drawings layout drawings components specification sizing and selection bill of materials and complete machine documentation package for life of machine (dossier).
- Respect Michelin mechanical design standards in all equipment designs.
- Create budget estimates and bid packages on assigned projects.
- Provide project documentation: mechanical designs technical offer safety risk assessment maintenance & operator training documents and user manuals.
- Facilitate the procurement of equipment and materials for assigned projects.
- Provide equipment acceptance inspections on equipment that comes into the plant.
- Management of mechanical contractors or maintenance installation teams during equipment modifications & machine installations through start-up and commissioning.
- Provide estimates and technical schedules for all phases of process equipment addition replacement or upgrade.
- Provide backup support and training to plant maintenance teams on new automation systems that they implement.
- Interface with internal company support groups to accomplish objectives and provide contract engineering management and direction when needed.
- Participate in assigned major capital projects and/or modifications from start to finish including equipment reception commissioning and acceptance.

Must Have Requirements:
- Bachelors degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent technical education with 3 or more years of engineering experience on projects that include management of internal and external contractors to accomplish objectives and demonstrated ability to network and develop positive relationships with team members and internal partners in an industrial manufacturing or large commercial environment is required.
- Experience with mechanical design standards; OSHA ASME ANSI ISO etc. and design tools is required. Experience with Solidworks as well as document management systems (PLM) is required; AutoCAD or Draftsight 2D and Team Center are preferred respectively
- Hands-on experience leading and supporting industrial equipment installation machine removal (decommissioning) disassembly relocation reassembly alignment commissioning and start-up activities while ensuring compliance with safety quality and project requirements is required.
- Experience with lifting devices cranes jibs below the hook devices and end-effectors as well as required.
- Knowledge of pneumatics hydraulics piping and fitting is required.
Pluses / PREFFERED Skills for the role:
- Experience with mechanics of materials stress analysis and FEA is preferred.
- Knowledge of sizing and selection of motor-reducer combinations.
- Knowledge of motor gearbox and drive system sizing and selection for industrial applications.
- Knowledge of advanced technologies in robotics AGV ASRS AI (machine learning) preferred.
- Experience with measurement and vision system is preferred.
The successful candidate will also possess the following skills:
- Experience in Project Team Leadership or Project Management with detailed installation planning including risk assessment timeline and step by step installation. Proficiency in Microsoft Office apps (Excel Word Project PowerPoint Teams) is assumed.
- Being well organized and able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously with strong communication skills and the ability to influence and resolve issues is assumed.
