Mechanical Engineering Intern

Job Description Summary

Responsible for supporting the Engineering team in the design development and improvement of tooling fixtures and manufacturing processes used in a high-volume production environment. This internship provides hands-on experience in mechanical design manufacturing automation and cross-functional problem-solving. The selected candidate will work closely with engineers and production personnel to develop practical solutions that support operational excellence and continuous improvement initiatives.

Job Description:

  • Design tooling components used in powder compaction and hot forge manufacturing processes.
  • Create 3D models engineering drawings and prints for tooling gaging fixtures and related production equipment.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement solutions that improve manufacturing processes quality and productivity.
  • Troubleshoot tooling and production issues alongside engineering and manufacturing team members.
  • Support automation projects by assisting in the design and implementation of mechanical systems and components.
  • Participate in engineering reviews design discussions and continuous improvement activities.
  • Maintain engineering documentation and update drawings as needed.
  • Follow established safety quality and engineering standards.
  • Other duties as assigned

Required Skills and Education

  • Currently pursuing a bachelors degree in mechanical engineering or mechanical engineering technology with an anticipated graduation date of 2028.
  • Experience using CAD software such as Creo Parametric Autodesk Inventor or SolidWorks.
  • Basic understanding of GD&T concepts and blueprint reading
  • Basic understanding in Microsoft Office programs
