Position: Mechanical Engineer
Type: Contract
Compensation: $60$90/hour
Location: Remote
Duration: 2 to 3 months
Commitment: 40 hours/week

Role Responsibilities

• Evaluate the quality of mechanical engineering tasks and model outputs. Identify incorrect assumptions missing constraints and unsafe design choices.
• Write clear instruction specs and produce reference solutions for mechanical engineering problems. Define tasks reflecting real-world engineering practices.
• Design challenging tasks and evaluation sets in areas like mechanical design and thermal systems. Collaborate with the research team to build domain-specific tools.
• Work with client researchers to maintain consistent standards. Translate engineering judgment into explicit teachable criteria.
• Provide precise well-structured written feedback to improve AI model performance.

Qualifications

Must-Have

• Bachelors degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
• 5 years of professional mechanical engineering experience in industry.
• Genuine ownership of real engineering work such as designing components or systems.
• Fluency with engineering tools like SolidWorks CATIA NX Creo AutoCAD ANSYS Abaqus or MATLAB.
• Familiarity with standards like ASME ASTM ISO and GD&T per ASME Y14.5.
• Experience with large language models in professional work.

Compensation & Legal

• W-2 employment with Cincinnatus LLC.
• Hourly contractor Paid weekly.
