Mechanical Design Engineer

We are seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to join our Gas Metering and Communication Systems (AMI) Product Development Team. This role will support New Product Development and Sustaining this role you will contribute to new product development from concept through production launch while also supporting current products to develop solutions to resolve production and field challenges. This is a great opportunity for an engineer who enjoys hands-on development cross-functional collaboration and solving real-world product challenges.

What Youll Do

• Design mechanical components assemblies interfaces and environmental packaging for rugged outdoor electromechanical products.
• Support product development from concept through launch ensuring designs meet performance quality cost and schedule goals.
• Create and maintain drawings specifications BOMs and manufacturing documentation.
• Use tools such as 3D CAD tolerance analysis and FEA to guide design decisions.
• Partner with electrical software firmware systems manufacturing quality testing supply chain and product management teams.
• Support prototype builds testing validation and regulatory activities.
• Provide sustaining engineering support for released products including troubleshooting root cause analysis and design changes.
• Collaborate with suppliers and manufacturing partners on tooling qualification manufacturability and production support.
• Drive continuous improvement efforts focused on quality reliability manufacturability and cost.

What Were Looking For

• Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 3 years of experience in mechanical engineering new product development sustaining engineering or a related product support role.
• Experience with 3D CAD and product data management tools.
• Experience with product testing validation troubleshooting and root cause analysis.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.

Preferred Qualifications

Candidates with experience in any of the following are encouraged to apply:

• Experience with rugged outdoor metering sensor-based or high-volume electromechanical products.
• Knowledge of manufacturing processes such as injection molding casting machining stampings or powdered metal.
• Experience with Creo (Pro/ENGINEER) and Windchill.
• Finite element analysis (FEA) experience.
• Familiarity with GD&T tolerance analysis and design for manufacturability.
• Experience with ANSI AWWA ASME UL or Intrinsic Safety requirements.
