Job Summary

Blackrock Resources is seeking an experienced Mechanical Department Manager to lead our Pittsburgh-based mechanical engineering team with a focus on industrial piping systems. This is an exciting opportunity for a seasoned engineering leader who combines strong technical expertise with a passion for team development project execution and business growth.
As part of a multidisciplinary engineering and construction services organization you will work with clients across a wide range of industries including metals chemical industrial manufacturing automotive food processing municipal and environmental sectors. You will play a key role in shaping the future of our mechanical department while delivering innovative solutions for complex heavy industrial projects.

Qualifications:

Professional Engineer (PE) license in Pennsylvania or another U.S. state preferred
Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
15 years of engineering experience in industrial environments.
5 years of leadership or management experience.
Strong background in industrial piping system design and analysis.
Experience leading projects from conceptual design through detailed engineering and execution.
Working knowledge of 3D CAD systems.

Technical Expertise:
Familiarity with engineering software such as:
Caesar II
Pipe-Flo
AFT Fathom
Strong knowledge of applicable industry codes and standards including:
ASME
NFPA
API
Experience within heavy industrial sectors such as metals chemical processing manufacturing energy or related industries.

Leadership & Department Management:
Lead mentor and develop a team of engineers and designers.
Plan and allocate resources across multiple projects and proposals.
Conduct performance reviews and support employee development initiatives.
Collaborate with senior leadership to establish departmental goals strategy and growth plans.
Foster a culture of safety accountability and continuous improvement.
Project & Business Leadership
Oversee the successful execution of engineering services for multiple projects.
Develop engineering estimates and contribute to proposal development efforts.

Strong organizational and project management abilities.
