Schedule: MondayThursday 5:00am3:30pm
Pay Range: $18.00-20.00 per hour based on experience

Position Summary:

The Mechanical Assembler is responsible for assembling mechanical and electromechanical products and components in accordance with customer specifications engineering drawings work instructions and MCL quality standards. This position utilizes a variety of hand tools power tools assembly equipment measuring devices and material-handling equipment to complete assigned work safely accurately and efficiently.


As part of a contract manufacturing environment the Mechanical Assembler must be flexible and willing to learn multiple products processes and customer requirements. This position is expected to contribute to achieving safety quality productivity and on-time delivery goals while supporting continuous improvement initiatives throughout the manufacturing operation.


Responsibilities:

Assembly & Production

  • Perform mechanical and electromechanical assembly of products components and subassemblies according to established specifications.
  • Read understand and follow work instructions engineering drawings bills of material (BOMs) assembly documentation and other production requirements.
  • Use hand tools power tools fixtures hoists and other assembly equipment safely and effectively.
  • Perform tasks that may include fastening drilling cutting fitting aligning measuring and installing components.
  • Complete assembly operations within established production standards while maintaining quality and safety expectations.
  • Learn and perform multiple assembly processes and product builds based on production and customer needs.
  • Verify that the correct parts components materials and hardware are being used throughout the assembly process.
  • Identify and communicate material shortages production issues equipment concerns or other conditions that may impact production.
  • Maintain accurate production records and documentation as required.
  • Assist with packaging material handling and other production-related activities as needed.
  • Maintain a clean organized and safe work area using established housekeeping and 5S practices.

Quality:

  • Understand and follow applicable quality procedures customer specifications and ISO requirements.
  • Inspect completed work to verify products meet established specifications and quality standards.
  • Utilize appropriate measuring and inspection equipment to verify dimensions tolerances fit and functionality.
  • Identify document and communicate nonconforming materials components or finished products.
  • Follow established procedures work instructions and manufacturing processes consistently.

Continual Improvement:

  • Identify and communicate opportunities to improve safety quality productivity workflow and cost.
  • Participate in continuous improvement Lean manufacturing 5S and waste-reduction activities.
  • Be receptive to changes in processes procedures equipment and work methods.
  • Collaborate with team members and leadership to improve manufacturing processes and resolve production challenges
Requirements

Education/Training:

  • High School Diploma or GED Required
  • Previous mechanical assembly manufacturing fabrication or related production experience preferred.
  • Lean manufacturing 5S or continuous improvement experience is a plus.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to learn new assembly processes.
  • Ability to read understand and follow written and verbal work instructions.
  • Ability to interpret basic engineering drawings assembly drawings and specifications.
  • Ability to understand basic measurements and manufacturing tolerances.
  • Ability to safely and effectively use hand tools power tools and measuring equipment.
  • Strong attention to detail with a commitment to producing quality work.
  • Ability to identify problems and communicate concerns to appropriate team members or leadership.
  • Ability to work independently while also contributing effectively as part of a team.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Dependable and punctual with consistent attendance.

Travel Requirements:

Physical Requirements:

  • Be able to lift 10-50 lbs. for short periods
  • Must be able to stand for several hours per day sit and bend
  • Safely maneuver up and down ladders as required.
  • Safety-Sensitive Position: The Mechanical Assembler position is considered a safety-sensitive position. Employees are responsible for operating and working around manufacturing equipment power tools moving machinery and material handling devices where inattentiveness or inability to safely perform assigned duties could result in injury to themselves or others. Employees must be physically capable of performing the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodation and must consistently demonstrate the ability to work safely follow safety policies and maintain situational awareness in a manufacturing environment. Safety performance is a critical component of successful job performance in this role.

Materials and Equipment Utilized:

  • Hand tools Assembly Equipment Metrology Equipment applicable to the industry Computer and Testing Equipment
  • Safety equipment: Safety glasses bump hats hearing protection as required and cut resistant gloves as required
  • Steel toes are required
  • Required to use a hoist for lifting heavy objects (training provided)
  • Required to use power equipment like drills and cut-off wheels heavy duty tooling/equipment

Working Environment:

  • 100% - Manufacturing environment; clean low to moderate noise safety glasses required and other personal protective equipment where applicable
