Mechanic

JOB SUMMARY:
The diesel truck mechanic is responsible for maintaining the diesel equipment in the fleet while ensuring all safety requirements are met. This includes repair and preventative maintenance on equipment as necessary to ensure proper operating condition.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
all types of repair and PM work on tractors and trailers
standard vehicle maintenance
standard component inspections and repairs
preventive maintenance and warranty work on equipment
standard mechanical and electronic problems utilizing diagnostic computer when applicable
root cause of basic failures/conditions and perform repairs as required
defective components as instructed
facility maintenance duties
with customers/drivers to properly determine nature of complaint once assigned a task
in accordance with all federal/ provincial and corporate compliance guidelines (i.e. safety DOT)
a clean and organized workspace
duties as assigned


EXPERIENCE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
Air conditioning and brake certifications
Previous experience with engine and electrical diagnostics
Drivers License required Class A CDL preferred
Previous welding experience preferred
High school diploma or equivalent required
Post-secondary vocational education strongly preferred
