MacLean-Fogg is hiring a Materials Manager for our Chesterfield MI manufacturing this role you will lead production planning material scheduling inventory control and material flow to help keep production supplied and customer requirements on track. You will develop the materials team improve inventory accuracy and flow and partner across the operation to reduce costs and minimize supply-related disruptions.

  • Location: Chesterfield MI

  • Work Arrangement: On-site

  • Schedule: Standard business hours

  • Pay: $100000-$110000 per year

  • Employment Type: Full-time / Salary

  • Travel: Up to 10%

What Youll Do as a Materials Manager
  • Lead materials management activities across production planning material scheduling inventory control material movement and customer-service coordination to support production and delivery requirements.

  • Develop and manage material and production plans that align customer requirements production schedules inventory objectives and operational needs.

  • Monitor material availability and proactively address shortages supply constraints excess inventory lead-time concerns and other issues that could affect production or customer delivery; partner with purchasing and suppliers to support continuity of supply.

  • Oversee inventory management processes including cycle counting physical inventory reconciliation inventory accuracy corrective actions and accurate ERP/MRP data.

  • Ensure effective material flow throughout receiving storage production replenishment finished goods shipping and other material-handling areas.

  • Analyze key materials metrics including inventory accuracy inventory turns shortages schedule attainment premium freight and obsolete inventory and use the results to improve performance and control costs.

  • Partner with Operations Quality Finance Engineering and other functions to support production requirements new product launches engineering changes risk mitigation and other business initiatives.

  • Lead coach and develop materials team members while establishing clear expectations accountability procedures standards and continuous-improvement practices.

What Youll Bring
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelors degree in Supply Chain Management Business Operations Management Logistics or a related field or equivalent experience.

  • At least 6 years of progressive experience in materials management production planning inventory control supply chain or related functions within a manufacturing environment.

  • Previous leadership or supervisory experience in materials supply chain planning or inventory management.

  • Experience using ERP/MRP systems in a manufacturing environment.

  • Strong knowledge of materials management inventory control production planning scheduling and manufacturing operations.

  • Strong analytical problem-solving and decision-making skills including the ability to identify root causes and implement effective corrective actions.

  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills with strong cross-functional collaboration and relationship-building capabilities.

  • Ability to analyze inventory production and materials data to support business decisions.

  • Strong continuous-improvement and cost-control mindset.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications particularly Excel.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of or experience with JDE.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements
  • This role regularly involves working in both office and manufacturing environments.

  • The position requires sitting standing and walking for extended periods throughout the workday including frequent walking through manufacturing warehouse shipping and receiving areas.

  • Employees in this role may occasionally bend stoop reach and climb stairs.

  • The position requires sufficient manual dexterity to operate a computer and perform administrative tasks.

  • The role may occasionally require lifting carrying pushing or pulling objects weighing up to 25 pounds.

  • The work environment may include varying noise levels and temperatures.

  • Required personal protective equipment must be worn in designated areas.
