What Youll Do
As a member of our network you will be matched with opportunities to teach Martial Arts (Karate Taekwondo MMA BJJ) to K-12 students at schools buildings and communities across DC. These teaching opportunities will be for terms that could last anywhere from 6 weeks to 18 weeks.
- As an after school instructor youll have the following responsibilities:
- Develop age-appropriate Martial Arts curriculum for after-school students
- Lead weekly in-person classes with enthusiasm and expertise
- Establish a well-structured and lively classroom that keeps students engaged
- Foster a positive supportive and encouraging learning environment for students of varying skill levels
- Build connections with students in a warm and inclusive environment
- Track student growth and offer positive helpful feedback
- Arrive prepared on time and ready to teach
- Create a memorable experience for the children in your class
Who You Are
A fun enthusiastic adaptable instructor with experience teaching school age children and who:
- Has subject matter expertise in Martial Arts (Karate Taekwondo MMA BJJ)
- Has a passion and skill for building hands-on projects with kids
- Has excitement joy and passion for both teaching kids and personal development/learning
- Knows how to create a fun structured and inclusive classroom environment
- Brings your own voice and creativity to each class you teach
- Is cooperative supportive flexible
- Is dependable proactive and thrives when given autonomy and also appreciates support and clear expectations
$90 - $120 an hour
Teachers in the Togetherhood network are paid per class either flat rate or per-student (determined by the partner school). This is contracted supplemental 1099 work. There is a separate materials budget for teachers to use for classes requiring one.

What to Expect

- Candidates advancing from screenings will have a second video interview in which we will ask you to share a sample lesson plan
